Viruses can enter ur machine by simply clinking on Link. Bcoz virus r if many kinds and new viruses are developed daily. Even best protection can detect them only if it has information what the virus do so be carefull before opening any page and when the browsers asks for updates don't download them automatically unless u are sure that they are virus and spyware free. Take Care.

You can only get a virus when you OPEN a file. Someone can send a virus through an email, but only when you actually OPEN it from Outlook since its already downloaded into your hard drive. You can get a virus in your computer if you INSTALL the program you just downloaded because you are extracting the files from the exe program to your hard drive.
Whenever you are actually moving files into your computer, then thats the only way you can get a virus or a trojan.

Yes, you can get a virus just by clicking a link. A link could auto download an activeX control which can be used for remote access or installinga virus. AS for peer to peer...if your virus scanning application doesnt scan peer to peer connections and IMs, you should try avast, as it does all these things in real time.

of direction! Thats why you like antivirus or risk-free surfing some thing like that. yet virus would not look whilst clicking a information superhighway handle. information superhighway handle has in basic terms a rip-off not virus. rip-off is nearly a google hammer that freaks you out. Virus in basic terms look once you acquire some thing or installation.

There has been known security flaws on WMF, JPEG handlers in GDI of windows which let to run arbitrary code on target computer (and get root) once such a graphics file is forged with the code as a buffer overflow. So when you visit a site with a such JPEG you get breached! but al those vulnerabilities get fixed with hotfixes if you have windows update running constantly.
