Alcoholism is an addiction. Now, I've been addicted to a few things, cigarettes and caffiene are my main probs... but, here goes...
1.) If you can't go a whole day without a drink for any reason.
2.) You feel you need a drink to be at your best potential.
3.) You have physical symptoms when you go without drinking (ie nausea, shaking, mood swings, etc).
4.) "I can quit anytime I want to" has been heard escaping your lips, yet you've never made good on that phrase.
5.) You briefly are able to quit, but in a short time, begin drinking again at the same rate you did before.
6.) You hide your drinking when others say "you drink too much".
If one or two of those apply to you, you might be an alcoholic. If more than that does, there's a good chance. If most/all of them do, I'd be seriously concerned that you are.

It's when your life revolves around it - when it's the first thing you think about in the morning. When the thought of going without a drink all day horrifies you.
My mother was an alcoholic - she died at just 34. A terrible waste of a life.
If your friends are telling you that you're drinking too much, you should take heed. Ask yourself some questions, and answer honestly. This really is not a road you want to head down. It will kill you eventually, and will make what's left of your life a living hell for you and those around you.
I wish you the very best of luck xxxxxx

Drink, the demon drink as they say.
Well y ask the ? so i guess you drink quite a bit ?
The UK units state y should drink no more than 4 units a day for men which i think is 2 pints.
If you think of drink so much, y need to seek counselling, IE. Alcoholics anonymous or talk to your GP.
Drinking too much at a young age can be very dangerous and lead to liver and kidney damage.
Why waste your life with drink, get help and you'll have a better life, good luck

You can be 'alcohol dependant' and not realise it. For example, my husband doesn't think he has an alcohol problem because he doesn't drink before midday. However, even though he is well into his fifties he is unable to know when to stop once he starts at lunchtime. He will never go somewhere such as a tea room for a coffee at lunch - it has to be a pub. He drinks every single day despite his GP telling him to abstain for two days every week.
So I would say to you, are you having two alcohol-free days every week? What time of the day are you drinking and are you able to stop at any time despite how much others are drinking (peer pressure).

i think the main signs are when you wake up and the first thing you think of is a drink and you drink on your own and cant go a day with out a drink. when you are asking the question there is a problem. there are plenty of places you can go for advise, you should talk to a friend if you are worried

When you can't stop drinking. When you have blackouts. If you "have to" drink to have fun. You need more alcohol to achieve the feeling that you had previously when drinking. If drinking interferes with normal activites like work. You get the "shakes" when you don't drink.

Do you get drunk when you drink?
If yes then you are.
Some people, or in fact most of the people are social drinkers.
For ex, they go clubbing and drink but not to the extend drunk.
They like being high so that they dance freely and feel relaxed.
From the looks of it you aren't...

If going for a week without _any_ alcohol is a problem, I think you're definitely getting there; if going for a day without any alcohol is out of the question, then you've got the problem.
And, one of the key points is that others tell you you have the problem, and you keep on denying it.
