I think originally religion was a way of explaining events that primitive humans couldn't otherwise understand. Especially frightening things, or things that seemed out of control.

Eventually religion became a means to face the fear of mortality. Most religions have an "after life" and a code or behavior that is rewarded in the after life. Failure to follow that code usually also has a means of punishment.

Using religion as a means for power and/or control over the fear of others is a long standing practice, unfortunately. And while all religions claim to have peace and love as cornerstones, there are far too many hypocrites who justify exceptions to those tenets, regardless of their faith.

religion are just beliefs. it can give u hope by believing, it can make u a better person. but it is the invisible incentive to being a better person. religion are false hope that are believed. It is to calm people to think that if they pursue this belief then they will go to a better place. it blinds them more about the real issue at hand. reality. people can believe in entities from above just to feel a little safer but its just ideas that are firmly established in their minds. it is the gathering of one thought or idea and since so many are convinced to believe in it. it is ends up to be more convincing to the believer.

people can decide on their own if they want to be a good person or not by just acting like one, rather than go to a place of worship everyweek just to know that u are a good person because u came to worship, or u could take action and do something such as help a neighbor, or help at the local food shelter. we have the power to decide. it is the action of a person that makes them good not the belief.

Islam is the way of life for those who believe in God and want to live a life in worship and obedience to none but God. The reward is forgiveness from God and an everlasting life in the Heaven.

Belief in one God, Allah in Arabic, constitutes the very foundation of Islam. There is no deity except Allah. He is indivisible and absolutely transcendent. God is the Almighty, the Creator and the Sustainer of the universe, Who is similar to nothing and nothing is comparable to Him. Worship and obedience belongs to Allah and Allah alone. Joining other gods with God is an unforgivable sin. Any one who joins other gods with God has strayed far, far away from the Truth.

Prophet Muhammad was born in Makkah, a city in the present-day Saudi Arabia in 570 C.E. He is a direct descendant of Prophet Ishmael, the first son of Prophet Abraham. Peace and blessings of God be on all His prophets. Muhammad received divine revelations (The Holy Quran) over a period of 23 years in the seventh century of the Christian Era. Muslims believe that he is the last Messenger sent by God for the guidance of mankind until the Day of Judgment. He is the model for humanity of all walks of life to follow until the Last Hour. God sent him as a mercy for the worlds.

The primary sources of knowledge are the Holy Quran and the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad. Anyone wanting to live a life in worship and obedience to God should follow these teachings.

The Holy Quran (also written as Koran) is the Divine Book revealed to Muhammad (peace be on him). The Holy Quran confirms what was revealed to earlier messengers of God and serves as the Criterion of right and wrong. The Quran is the only divine Book extant in its original text and is therefore the only source of Guidance from God for all mankind.

The Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad refers to his sayings and actions, his approvals and disapprovals. The Sunnah is collected in books separate from the Holy Quran and are known as Hadith books. While the Holy Quran is 100% word of God revealed to the Prophet, not every Hadith is authentic. Early Muslim scholars have classified hadith into various categories ranging from different levels of authenticity to false hadith.

The structure of a religion should exist to assist its members in living their lives according to the teachings of that particular faith--to give a general answer.

That is why I attend a Catholic Church every Sunday and listen to the guidance of the Church Authority. My ultimate authority is God. I do realize that all other Church members (including Church authority) are human and just as capable of being led astray as I am. That is why I find it important to educate myself in matters of Scripture and Tradition (the basic tenants of the Church).

Religion exists so that the rich and powerful can easily make the rest follow and obey. Another wise man said it differently but just as accurately, "Religion is the opiate [drug] of the masses."

Primarily, I believe that it is to align to one's own spirituality... And to provide a platform for those who seek the Truth.

However, far too many of us who are born into our father's/parent's religion which, nine times out of ten, are rife with false teachings and false doctrines indoctrinated AND perpetuated by the church leaders from the onset for their own personal agenda, for their greed for power, the multitude of mankind remains in total darkness.

Out of over 30,000 religious organizations in the world today, ONLY ONE of them can be true. The rest are false...

Peace be with you!

No philosophy it is a time-tested and proven method of social control. Faith leads man to follow idiocy to any level (fly planes in to buildings) and blinds him to the pointlessness of his existence while the rich and powerful are busy enjoying every second of the ONE and only life we get to live.

control of the masses can be achieved by physical means ie, government and police.
what cannot be controlled through law and order programs is what you think.
therefore you control people through feelings of guilt and threats of punishment in a life hereafter. tell a lie often enough and people will believe it.
the seperation of church and state also is a lie.
they are in it together and it's all about power.
