verses from AL-Hadith

Volume 8, Book 78, Number 634:
Narrated Abu Huraira:

Allah's Apostle said, "(The Prophet) Solomon once said, 'Tonight I will sleep with ninety women, each of whom will bring forth a (would-be) cavalier who will fight in Allah's Cause." On this, his companion said to him, "Say: Allah willing!" But he did not say Allah willing. Solomon then slept with all the women, but none of them became pregnant but one woman who later delivered a half-man. By Him in Whose Hand Muhammad's soul is, if he (Solomon) had said, 'Allah willing' (all his wives would have brought forth boys) and they would have fought in Allah's Cause as cavaliers. "

Tabaqat Ibn Sa`d, 1:398. "The Jews said, when they saw the Messenger of God marrying women, 'Look at this man who never has enough of food and cares for nothing else as he does for women.' They envied him for his wives and found fault with him because of that and said, 'If he were a prophet, he would not desire women'" (Tabaqat Ibn Sa`d, 8:202). Ibn Sa`d explained why Muhammad married several women by stating that this was the tradition (sunna) of the prophets since Solomon, the son of David, married a thousand women, seven hundred of them received dowry and three hundred were concubines. David had a hundred wives; Uriah the mother [sic] of Solomon was one of them, whom he married after the temptation. This is more than what Muhammad had (ibid.). Moreover, one should understand the many number of wives Muhammad had as a bounty and grace of God: "Or do they envy people because of what God has given them out of His bounty? We already gave Abraham's family the Book and wisdom, and We gave them splendid control" (Sura al-Nisa' 4:54).

David and Solomon have more than one wife (2Sa 3:2-5; 5:13-15; 1Ki 11:3). You may say it was practised in the past for Judaism, at least for the Kings.

But monogamy is God's original intent for man (Matt 19:4-6). That's why followers of Christ forbid polygamy since the birth of Christianity.

The Bible reports that Solomon had 700 wives and 300 concubines (I Kings 11:3), and that David had a total of 7 wives, including Michal, whom he betrothed for the price of 100 Philistine foreskins, but who was then taken away from him by her father Saul and given to someone else, but eventually returned to David upon his demand, after her father's death (1 Samuel 17 (all), 18 (all), 25:44; 2 Samuel 3:2-16).

However, I should note that this was in direct disobedience to God's command directed specifically to them - to the kings of Israel - in the Torah (Deuteronomy 17:17). They are told not to have more than one wife, because their wives might lead their hearts astray.

And in the New Testament, the teaching is basically as follows:

There is an account of Jesus' understanding of the teaching of the Book in Matthew 19:3-10. Here, Jesus discusses the part of the Torah where God institutes marriage (Genesis 2:24). He takes a very strict view of this passage, basically indicating that we should live strictly by the following: leave father and mother, cleave to wife, become one flesh. In that order (Matthew 19:3-6).

In this instance, He interprets that to mean no divorce (because that is what He is discussing at that moment). He is also clearly assuming that a man will only have one wife, because he says that the man who divorces his wife and marries another is an adulterer (Matthew 19:7-8). And that if someone is for some reason unable to live by this rule, they should not get married at all (Matthew 19:9-10).

But it all comes down to the interpretation of the passage from Genesis. It is clear that Jesus is expecting us to live according to 'what was from the beginning', and that His thinking is not limited only to the area of divorce, but rather extends to every aspect of that passage: the change in relationship with one's parents (leaving them), the permanence of the relationship (no divorce), the genders of the respective spouses (opposite sexes), and the exclusivity of the relationship (only one spouse).

This teaching is confirmed in other parts of the New Testament. For example, Paul writes to the Corinthians about how to conduct their personal lives, saying that because there is so much immorality, each man should have his own wife and each woman her own husband - although he tells them that if they can, and they are able to live self-controlled lives, they should in fact stay single in order to ensure undivided devotion to God (1 Corinthians 7:1-2, 25-40).

He also writes to Timothy about overseers and deacons (i.e. people occupying a position of authority in the Church) that, among other things, they should be the husband of one wife. (I Timothy 3:2, 12) These are people who are supposed to be an example to the faithful, so it is especially important that they really do things by the Book.

So, as you can see, the Old Testament may permit having multiple wives, but it is far from approving of this lifestyle; and the New Testament consistently holds up having only one wife as the example for Christians to live by.

incorrect. The Paraclete is the Holy Spirit, fulfilled on the banquet of Pentecost in Acts 2. there is severe blunders in attempting to tug Muhammad next to Christianity. The Quranic Revelation grow to be made by technique of Archangel Gabriel to Muhammad. It happened over a era of more effective than 20 years of the Prophet's existence, beginning with the first verses of Sura ninety six, then resuming after a three-3 hundred and sixty 5 days destroy for a lengthy era of 20 years as a lot because the demise of the Prophet in 632 A.D., i.e. ten years formerly Hegira and ten years after Hegira. The Qu'ran states many times that Jesus (Isa) grow to be a human prophet despatched by technique of God, no longer area of God Himself. "Christ, the son of Mary, grow to be no more effective than a messenger; many were the messengers that handed on to the great beyond formerly him." (5:seventy 5) inspite of the undeniable fact that, the gospels obviously state that Jesus claimed to be God incarnate, for which He grow to be condemned by technique of the Jews to demise. The authority and individual of Jesus is the middle of the Gospel. If Jesus isn't God in the flesh, then he's not a acceptable sacrifice, and by no skill the Lamb without spot, for decrease than God on my own is suitable. as a effect of the above, Paul's uncommon double anathema announces a curse upon "yet another gospel given by technique of angels". Galatians a million:8-9 yet inspite of if we, or an angel from heaven, pontificate the different gospel to you than what we've preached to you, enable him be accursed. As we've reported formerly, so now I say back, if every person preaches the different gospel to you than what you've gained, enable him be accursed.
