you probably need to talk to a counselor about it to understand it better which will help you get over it. all the symptoms of a panic attack are caused by adrenalin which makes the body want to "fight or flight" in your case its flight you just want to run away. talking to someone like a councilor can help you change your way of thinking and you will start to realize that when your in a public place everyone isn't staring at you, thinking about you and talking about you once you realize this you wont feel the need to run away and the adrenalin wont get released. change your way of thinking and the panic attacks will go away.

Yes medication can help, but make it a short term solution. Talk to a proffesional about whats the underlying problem. Panic attacks are just an outward expression of an inner problem. If you can control or cure your problems without meds, i'd do that :) Good luck.

I really don't think this is something you can do on your own. Talk to your doctor. There are many medications for this. You may need medication for a short time only. Talking to a professional would probably help too.

I know people are trying to help when they say just calm down, think good thoughts, etc., but it never helped me to do that. The panic was just too strong.

Good luck to you.

mild anti depressant, cognitive therapy.

Two things happening. Chemical imbalance which causes flight or fight symptoms of panic attacks and how you react to the fight or flight.

Meds can halt panic attacks. Learning to observe what is happening with deep breathing and not reacting to the severe symptoms can let a panic attack pass. Quit caffiene, de-stress your life.

They are anxiety attacks, panic attacks happen when you don't even think you are stressed out. Anxiety is when you can identify whats causing them. I too have panic and anxiety. If the symptoms are so bad you can't really deal with day to day life, you should go see your doctor and try some type of anti-depressant. Besides taking meds, Treatment must be specially tailored for each individual, but there are a number of standard approaches. Individuals with anxiety disorders can almost always be treated without being admitted to a hospital.

Generally, therapists use a combination of the following treatments; there is no single correct approach.
NAME GOAL HOW IT WORKS BENEFITS DRAWBACKS
Behavior Therapy Modify and gain control over unwanted behavior Learning to cope with difficult situations, often through controlled exposure to them Person actively involved in recovery skills that are useful for a lifetime Can take time to achieve results
Cognitive Therapy Change unproductive thought patterns Examine feelings and learn to separate realistic from unrealistic thoughts Person actively involved in recovery skills that are useful for a lifetime Can take time to achieve results
Medication Resolve symptoms Help restore chemical imbalances that lead to symptoms Effective for many people, enables other treatment to move forward Most medications have side effects
Relaxation Techniques Help resolve stresses that can contribute to anxiety Breathing re- training, exercise and other skills Person actively involved in recovery skills that are useful for a lifetime Can take time to achieve results
Treatment is successful in as many as 90 percent of anxiety disorder patients. Most people respond best to a combination of the four options summarized in this table.

Treatments have been largely developed through research conducted by the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) and other research institutions. They are extremely effective and often combine medication or specific types of psychotherapy.

More medications are available than ever before to effectively treat anxiety disorders. These include antidepressants or benzodiazepines. If one medication is not effective, others can be tried. New medications are currently being tested or are under development to treat anxiety symptoms.

The two most effective forms of psychotherapy used to treat anxiety disorders are behavioral therapy and cognitive-behavioral therapy. Behavioral therapy tries to change actions through techniques such as diaphragmatic breathing or through gradual exposure to what is frightening. Cognitive-behavioral therapy teaches patients to understand their thinking patterns so they can react differently to the situations that cause them anxiety.

I used to get that, it was the worst thing ever. It just (mostly) dissappeared in time. Try spending more time on your own without doing anything to distact yourself. Care more about yourself than other people, most people do that anyway.
