Whoa. Slow down. Sounds like you first need to research both wicca and paganism - they are two separate, but related things, but without understanding any of it, you can't just jump in headfirst. :)

Do some research on wikipedia, first, and then perhaps move onto some beginner wicca 101 or paganism 101 type books. Read lots. Don't just pick up a few answers around here and pretend you're part of the 'clique'. This is a serious path. Do a lot of research before you do anything. Remember - this is a religion and a way of life, not just a fun thing to experiment with.

htttp://www.mysticwicks.com is a pagan forum that's great for you to ask questions, but please, read and research first!

What is the reason you are doing it? Why are you choosing another path--is it because you really want to find some form of spiritual enlightenment? Or because you think it's cool?

Either way, you should ask yourself what your reasons are.

Some books for you to read:

The Spiral Dance (by starhawk) on amazon.com

Wicca: A Guide for the Solitary Practitioner (Paperback)
by Scott Cunningham amazon.com

both are good books for neophytes and will teach you a lot of the basics. See from there if it's what you're really into.

You do what ever you want to do and worship whoever you want to worship. As for tarot cards, most of them come with a little booklet that tells you the meaning of the cards and gives a few layouts.

Try starting with something easier. Go to decent book shop and ask for Angel or Archangel cards. Theres nothing evil or sinister. All different types of Angel etc that can help to give answers or suggestions to a situation. You carnt find death or how to bring dark demonic creatures from hell. There positive and can just say something that re-assures you or guides you. Can be a bit freaky when you pick a card and it tells you something that really does hit the nail on the head.

They are a lot of questions; maybe you should start by learning about Wicca and Paganism, and then look at why you are interested in these paths and if they are for you.

Paganism, in terms of neo-paganism, is an umbrella term for people who follow either pantheist (single divine present in all) or polytheist (many gods with their own identities) in beliefs. It can cover a wide range of people, as well as a wide range of religions such as Druids, Wicca, Neo-wicca, Asatru, Setians, and so on.

Wicca is a pagan mystery tradition; it is a priesthood that follows a 'hard-polytheist' belief in a goddess and god, it is known for being formal in that it is initiate-only and oath-bound so requires a lot of study and practice.

As for specific questions;

Divination has nothing to do with Paganism, and although it has it's place within Wicca it is far from something you should concern yourself with until you have a grasp of what Paganism and Wicca are. Tarot, never been interested myself, I suppose with anything you simply learn, get as many books as you can from as reliable a list of authors as you can, the more you learn the better you will be able to tell the good authors from the bad and the more you will get into the practice. Learning astrology is the same.

You don't need anything at all, no religion has a need for tools, and it is all down to how you practice and what you believe. Athame for example is a tool used within Wicca and Neo-wicca, it is used within circle – a Wicca coven will have these tools, although you may need your own athame that is not something you need to worry about right now. If you want to be Neo-wicca or you wish to become Wicca in the future then you may want to have an athame, but this is not necessary at all, in fact most Wicca and even many Neo-wicca do not use tools – tools are essentially a way to ease you into working between the physical and the astral, when you are comfortable you may very well find you do not need these tools at all.

How you worship is up to you, obviously within specific religions they have a specific way to their practice, but if you do not belong to any particular religion then there is no need for you to worship any way – how you worship and what you do is up to you.

As for who you should worship, we cannot in any way shape or form tell you who you should worship – they are YOUR beliefs, we cannot tell you what to believe in. Wicca of course worship their gods, Asatru worship theirs, if you were to call yourself Wicca for example it would be expected that you follow the beliefs, practices, doctrines, mysteries and gods of Wicca – but until you decide Wicca is for you, study and are initiated that is not something you have to worry about, and frankly I think you need to find out what you believe in long before you consider becoming any specific religion, Pagan or otherwise.

I'd highly advise you look around at other sites, although it is hard to find reliable information it is out there. If you have any questions feel free to send me a message from my profile here. Good luck

EDIT: To MoonShadow - Witchschool is NOT good for anyone, it does not teach people about Wicca at all, it is a site specifically to make money out of people ignorant of Wicca, it is considered highly offensive by those within the Pagan community because it spreads ignroance and disrespect towards Wicca.
