I have gone through the documentation but they are asking for alot of cash from me and my family to immigrate beside taking 24 months to process. Is there any guarantee that after paying all their required fee and having no criminal records plus a skill u will eventually get the Visa once u score more than 69 points on the test. Anyone been through the process and succeed? I need more information before I set myself for Canada and start the process. Since canada has opened its door to skilled workers why do they need one to have a fat bank statement yet u going there to work? Does using an agent increases my chance of legally immigrating there? And yes am from africa very hard working married with 2 children and we want to do this the legal way. Is there any easier way to immigrate to Canada? Man I need all the information there is to this immigration thing coz dont need to start and bail out half way through the process.

Well, the process shouldn't cost that much, as long as you don't start paying for lawyers and immigration consultants to help you with the process. Some of those guys charge thousands of dollars to obtain and assist would-be immigrants in completing application forms, and that is a total scam. Unless your English is very poor, or you are too intimidated to attempt the process yourself, you should avoid using middlemen (unless you are very rich, in which case it doesn't matter). The fact is, either you will have enough points or you won't. A middleman won't be able to change that. And don't bother trying to lie on the form - you will be found out. Unless you have a lot of money and plan to start a business in Canada with invested capital, or have relatives in Canada who can sponsor you, you have to qualify as an independent. It is a fairly straightforward process, but be warned that it can take up to two years to be approved. Also, potential new immigrants who are professionals in their home country should be warned about one very important thing. Just because you are a doctor, lawyer or engineer in your home country, don't assume that you will be able to perform the same kind of work in Canada. Immigration Canada gives extra points for a graduate degree, etc., and professional work experience, but, often, candidates are not told that their professional qualifications are not worth anything in Canada. You may have to requalify completely in order to work in your field in Canada, so be warned.

hi there,i myself and my family have applied for the immigration status for Canada. Ours is already in the process and on file since March 2005. yes if you ask me -they do process papers for quite a long time. (process time may also depend on the location you want to be based -if you prefer key cities like toronto, it will take a lot more time vs going for the province area like winipeg etc) sad to say --theres no guarantee you will get your immigration VISA approved :( yes! even though you score the 69 - (we have an assessment score of 76 points ) The scoring process or assessment is just for you to see if you have the necessary qualifications for immigrant status. Its a screening process to sort out applicants who dont qualify at all.

Honestly, It will all depend on how you will prepare your documentation, how you will represent yourself properly. Theres a web site where you can find the step by step to prepare your documents. I suggest that you be thorough with your papers, since if they find it incomplete --your papers will go back to the end of the line-hence it will take longer for your papers to get processed.

visit this site www.cic.gc.ca

they have a checklist to follow. so you'll know if your doing it the right way.

On our case we prefer to hire a consultant/agent ..we wanted to be thorough about it and we would like to lessen the hassle of errors. its quite expensive but at least we have professionals who will over look our papers...The good thing about consultants are they will give you pointers to make your documents well gathered...if you do this -chances are you will receive your VISA with NO interview --that is if there is no questionable entries/documents in your application.

Note: scout for a legal consultants before hiring them. go to reputable ones...beware of the fly by night companies!!!

yes, please do this the legal way or you might be sorry. Fixing things --there in Canada -hiring a lawyer to represent you will end up more costly vs you doing it the proper way.

and lastly, yes they do ask a financial statement from banks-its for the reason that they want to make sure you wont be a liability to the government.

hopefully this will help you in some way. good luck

most of the "immigration counseling services" are out and out frauds, look at the link above and then get in touch with a Canadian Embassy or Consulate in your country.
