I admire the filial child in you. Well, you don't have to spent much. You can treat him to a meal. I think the most important thing for a retiree is companion. No, you don't go rent people but you, as a chile, can be a good companion. You could spend more time with him after school/work and make sure he feels warm. Never neglect him. I think seeing all these from his child will make your dad feel appreciated.
My dad retiring next year. Haven't think of anything to get him, not yet. Cheers!

God bless you and your dad.

Something to fill his time, something he likes to do but didn't have time before. See what are his hobbies, and buy something to support those hobbies. Maybe a fishing equipment, a book, a pet, DIY stuff, or tools. It doesn't have to be expensive, it's just a reminder that he could have fun things to do after retirement. Good luck.

If you don't have one already, then get him a grandson.

Oh, you're 13. Think about your dad's hobbies. What he likes. Did you hear him say about what's he gonna do when he's retired? Best is to get something that will keep him occupied. Something to do. No just clothes, food, wine, etc.

Fishing equipment??

I would say a stripper. If he's not that kind, give him a new comfortable bed and plenty of books and magazines, a BBQ grill and raise chicken in the backyard.
