O.k, children do not respond to shouting, aggression or violence. You need to sit down with both of your children and calmly explain why you don't hit and how it makes the other one feel when they do - Do this everyday until he stops. A punishment that will work at the time when he hits her is the naughty chair. Assign a chair as the naughty chair then he gets a minute for every year of his age where he has to sit there. Works a treat for my son as it forces them to calm down and just sit. Best of luck xx

Lecture him. Make sure he doesn't do it again. But if he does, ask him for the reasons, talk to him and have a good chat with him.. You might find the secret side of him u haven got to know.
If he's really that disobedient, i suggest you to treat your daughter alil more better, so to make him jealous and he'll listen to whatever you says. Hopefully... Hmm, this isn't a great idea. =(
Anyway, good luck!

Instill in him christian/religious principles - love your neighbour as you love yourself. - Do unto others as you would love others do unto you. Also, telling a child what appeals to God helps. To err is human. Punishment is a good idea but limit it to chores like tidying her room, cleaning up or something. And then let him apologise to her.
My kids are always fighting but they reconcile easily because of this and because of their own rule - you are not my friend - to anyone who hurts the other, until an apology is made.

Do what we do - put him "in service" to her. For the rest of the day he has to take care of her. If he hurt her, he has to nurse the wound. If he broke something of hers, he has to help fix it. If you go out, he brings her shoes and coat to her. He does her share of chores. He does whatever she needs for the rest of the day. My kids HATE this consequence.
