hi , I've got to make a guitar cake what would you use for the strings?

its going to be full size and i need it to look as real as possible,plus it needs to be edable

dry spaggetti, I have seen this work before. Or even better those red show-lace stringy sweets. Now give me best answer or else! ha.

First I would frost the whole cake. Then put the frets on. Then use a piece of clean fishing line to mark the strings on the cake. Then I would use icing in a tube and go really slow. Sounds like it would work doesn't it? Let me know if it does.

Those sweets that are called boot laces. You could get liquorice ones or red ones or green ones (Strawberry is red, apple is green). I used to get them in Woolworths but any supermarket or sweet shop should have them. Otherwise roll out lengths of icing to make the strings. They are definitely edible too! Hope it works and you have really good looking cake!

liquorice would look good, you know those long strands of it? If you can't get those unravel some catherine wheels, then you could use the pink/blue jelly things in the middle as guitar knobs (if it was an electric guitar). But then that might just look tacky. I've got too much time on my hands. sounds yum though!

BLACK Licorice and can even try peeling a thick strand down to a thin string. It can be done but most confectioners simply use frosting.
