lol pmpl! death and taxes ..and no that is not when you call a cab!
The only certaintanties in life are death and taxes.. you know you will die one day and you know you will always have to pay tax !! hence where the statement is derived from!!!
nothing else in life is certain.. eg you don't know if yahoo answers' moderaters will still be here tomorrow lol!! they might be in texas sunning themselves!

I will assume you meant death and taxes, and the quote is "In this world nothing is certain but death and taxes." Benjamin Franklin said this on August 5, 1861.
All it has come to mean is there are two things, you can be sure, that are going to happen to everyone. 1 you will die someday and 2 you will have to pay taxes. While everything else in life changes these 2 things do not.
