Trans fats are worse for you.. although saturated fats in high quantity is deadly as well. Here is your lesson on fats.
In nature there are Saturated and non Saturated fats. saturated fats are from animals and non saturated are from plants (peantu oil etc.)
Saturated (animal) fats at room temperature are in a gelatin state, while Non(plants) are in a liquid state at room temperature. Trans fats are non-saturated plant oils that are chemically altered to be in a gelatin form like animal fat while at room temperature. Trans fats chemical makeup is not natural and our bodies do not recognize them. Over long periods of consumption trans fats can be cancer causing.
Saturated fats can be damaging to the heart and shouldn't be over-consumed.

Trans fat, as it decreases your HDL whereas saturated fats do not. Both will increase your LDL (the bad cholesterol) However, it is very difficult to eliminate trans fats from the diet as it is in all the yummy foodstuffs like cakes, pies and tarts.
Best advice is to eat everything in moderation.

Saturated and trans fats raise LDL (or "bad") cholesterol levels in the blood, thereby increasing the risk of heart disease. Dietary cholesterol also contributes to heart disease. Unsaturated fats, such as monounsaturated and polyunsaturated, do not raise LDL cholesterol and are beneficial when consumed in moderation. Therefore, it is advisable to choose foods low in saturated fat, trans fat, and cholesterol as part of a healthful diet.

Trans fat and saturated fat are BOTH bad for you. Both increase your risk of coronary heart disease.
Use olive oil for cooking, eat more fish high in omega-3 fatty acids (salmon, mackerel), eat less red meat, etc. See website below for more info.

YIKES!
From what I've gleaned from the media I do believe it is TRANS FAT. Saturated has Trans in it, but not the other way around. If I'm wrong, or mis-informed PLEASE let me know.
PS: both. Read the articles on this site.

both are bad for you, but transfats are the worst of the two.
"One example of the effects of trans fats vs saturated fats came from the "Walter Willett Nurses Study" (Professor of Medicine, Harvard Medical School). The 14-year study of 80,082 women who were 34 to 59 years of age concluded that a 2% increase in trans fats, compared to the same increase in carbohydrates, increased a woman's risk of heart disease by 19.3%, while the same study found that a 5% increase in saturated fats increased heart disease risk by 17% compared with the same increase in carbohydrates. im gonna guess trans fat because it stays in your blood for a long time (about 6 week half life) while you can burn off cholesterol, but im not really sure. it probably depends on the person, their lifestyle, and the rest of their diet (whether it is high in trans fat, cholesterol, or both)
