ive been giving this a lot of thought and maybe you all are right. i guess i will leave them in their school. i just hope they dont get mixed up in the violent criminal ways of the gangs. that is my worst fear. but i guess its better to take my chances than to be called a racist like all the rest of the white people who have already moved to the suburbs and new schools. please pray i didnt make the wrong decision. and ill add that my kids are 13,14,16, all boys in intermediate and high school. we live in corpus christi, texas.

Wait so lets get this straight.
Its not a safe environment for your kids because 90% of the students are Hispanic. Implying that ALL these Hispanics in the school are not safe. wait.. and you said your not racist? I'M SO CONFUSED.
Since I answered your question, you answer mine. I'm half Argentinean and half French, however I have beautiful olive skin and dark hair and could pass for being Hispanic. I go to a private school (yes, private school. shocking that all Hispanics are not poor, no?) where a good 90% of the students are white and Jewish. Do you think I should leave, because to be honest, white people are really dangerous and I dont know if its the best enviorment for me.

Is the school truly unsafe, or are you projecting that on it? I am assuming you must live in a laregly hispanic area, as well, are you considering moving , too?
If the school is not proven to be unsafe, I would think it was an excellent opportunity for your children to become fluently bi-lingual. Compare the school against other schools as far as safety.
And yes, I would say you might be a bit prejudiced ... which means pre-judging something before you know the facts.

I went to a high school that was half white and half hispanic and we got along ok but 90% could be a problem if they target your kids for not being the same as them

I would do what you feel best for your children. Who cares what the ones on here think. I did just what your thinking about doing and I could give a flip less if any one here thinks im racist or not. Now my daughter goes to a damn good school that has a good mix ratio. I guess that makes me a racist which im not ashamed of doing what is best for my kids.

If it is gang infested get them out.
It would be stupid to take them out because it is 90% Hispanic, however, take a look at the test scores. Try www. greatschools.net .
Unfortunately, the demographics do tend to track test scores when you are talking about first generation immigrants legal or otherwise. It is hard to educate ESL students, and it does end up taking the bulk of school funds in my experience.
Good luck.

Yeah, sounds like a racist act to me. Just because the school is mainly populated by Hispanics doesn't make it a bad school. I know of a mainly white school (it's private) where MANY of these kids are doing the EXACT same things kids from "bad" schools are doing, except they have easier access to money, and usually aren't out in the streets doing their dirty deeds...One of my really good friends went there and told me things I woudn't have imagined...

It might be racist. However, if the majority are ESL (English-second-language) students and are holding your children back from getting their full education and allowing them to reach their full potential that would be a valid reason to transfer schools or home school them. There are many Hispanic children who are excellent students and come from safe hardworking families who respect the school system and laws of the land. Really think this through.

Your choice is your choice, your kids are your kids, your reasons are your reasons. Every individual must sleep alone, with his own thoughts.
No I would not agree that "best and safe environment" is your primary concern. An easy out to comfort the appearance or dull the conscience seems like the primary concern.

Are Hispanic people idiots and morons, they are very intelligent people. Yes, your are making a profound statement through your actions by removing your children from this school. Have you asked your children where they want to go to school? Have they said to you that they want to make the move, or they want to stay where they are. What kind of emotional message are you giving your children? With children, all they see is another person their size with which they can interact with and make friends. They don't see children as being of another culture or children of a different color, their are just children that they can have fun and play with. It's the adults that pollute their mind with thought of racism. Let kids be kids no matter where they came from. WE have to stop polluting our kids minds with racism, let them find out about it as they grow up and not from their parents.. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't our US ATTORNEY GENERAL Hispanic!! Excuse me, YES, you are a racist!!
