Patience, perseverence and a calm attitude. You will have to go and feed the cat every day or every other day at around the same time, bring him good food, dont leave in the can, he might injure himself. Bring a small peice of cloth that belongs to you( but thatyou are not attached to) leave it close to the food, the feline might get used to your smell. Talk to the cat, call him everytime you go feed him, keep talking in a soft approoving tone while he eats, he will also get used to your voice. It might sound weird, but I find that saying "Perrmiow" (immitating their language as much as possible) really works.

You have to remain very calm, cats hate loud noises. Call him outloud tough every time you get to the feeding spot. Of course you will have to back off at least 10 feet whrn kitty comes, but keep talking to him in a soft voice when you do. Do not attempt to catch him yet. Patience and perseverence are the keys.

I have rescued many cats, using the "perrmiow" voice. Eventually he will come close to you.You also have to let them smell you and rub on you many times before kitty trusts you enough to pick him up, do the cat voice when he rubs on you go "perrmiow" and scratch him gently. Let him smell your fingers after you scratched him, he will start to believe you belong to him, and the bond will start forming between you two.
When you have fed Kitty many times over, Bring a cat cage with cat nip, leave it open and put the food in it, let Kitty eat in the cage a couple of times, when he gets used to you you can calmly get him used to you approach the cage. When that last step of trust is established then you can try to close the cage. Cats do not like brisk movements, you have to remain calm at all times and always talk to the cat. Now remember it might take weeks to establish trust. If the cat was not born in the wilderness and if he is very young it might be easier to catch him. When you do, please have him checked with a vet. Good luck and remember persistance is the key.

it's gonna take a long time and some patience. I did this before with some strays (cats, kittens and dogs)

The first thing you should remember is that as a human, you're really scary. So try not to move too fast or be too loud.

Get some really good food, preferably wet canned cat food or raw meat. Set some of it up about 10-15 feet away from you, then put some about 6-8 feet away, then about 3-4 feet. Just enough that she can smell and see that it is there, but not eenough that it gets full and leaves. then put some right next to you.

Sit on the ground, to make you appear less threatening. And remain very still and quiet, until it has orked it's way up to you and feels safe.

The other option is too go to your local humane shelter and get a live trap. Fill it with food and trap the cat, ou will probably though catch some other animals too; rabbits, groundhogs etc.

hope this helps

oh and always remember to use thick leather gloves when you handle a wild animal that you don't know, cause if it feels threatened it will probably try to bite you

the best way to attract a cat is to kneel down at eye level (so that you are not a threat),

dont look straight at it but if you dont move your gaze cos it go when you do,

hold your hand out and wiggle your fingers, the movement attracts the cat and as they say 'curiousity killed the cat' so it will come to investigate, if u have meat or fish in your hand thats a better bet but best grab it soon as it gets near, before it gets your scent

best way to grab a cat is put your hand under its chest and scoop it up as it tries to jumps off, you will have hold of it and can maneuvre it all around at arms length (best to have a thick jumper on when doing this, i always do so im not bothered)

then cradle the legs in your arms (it cant scratch u at all then)

find a cat in heat, with a leash on it...then lead it back to your empty car....with door open on the ditch side...50% chance the stray is male and will respond to his natural instincts....then return and shut the 2 of them together....it's better if you can stage an accident about a mile before this so the the traffic is not whizzing by...lol

put out food, and walk away, then put out food and sit close then put out food, and sit really near.then feed thecat from your hand. It may take a few weeks. Or just put out food, and leave, knowing the cat can find its own way home.
