First, situps are old-school and not the best ab exercise. Crunches are much more effective at targeting abs without overstraining your back. But with regards to belly fat, ab exercises in general will not be very effective at burning belly fat. Cardio and weight-training is far better at putting your metabolism into high-gear to burn off fat. Ab exercises will ensure that the abs look nice and toned once the fat is gone, but actually many people already have decent abs that are hidden under layers of fat so the key is to get rid of that fat first.

I believe Leg Lifts would be better,Lying flat on your back, without raising it up pick your legs up only about 6 inches off of the floor, hold them there about 5 to 8 seconds without putting them back down, spread them out in like a scissor movement then bring them back together and then lower them back down on the floor.Do this slowly,as you do this take your hand and feel of your tummy, feel the tightness, you will not be able to do many at start but if you keep it up you will see the difference. And I guarantee that!

burning fat is a combination of proper exercise and diet. if you exercise but eat junk, you are doing nothing. if you eat healthy but don't exercise, you are still doing nothing. you need to exercise and work the entire body out to burn all over fat. do different things as you don't want your body to get used to the exercises. you want your body to stay challenged and produce results. exercising for a couple of weeks will give you a little bit of results but it is a life time commiment if you want to keep fat at bay.

It will help firm them but sometimes it just make the muscles bigger. To lose stomach fat try aerobics or something to get the heartrate up, that burns fat.

yes.. they are a good workout for your abs, but you also need to work in some cardio to actually burn the fat and make sure you eat a healthy and balanced diet.
