There is a chemical that you can buy and put in you're pool and if I detects body fluids like pee it will turn that area a pink to red tint.. They used it in the local pool when I was a kid and they would kick kids out of the pool if they seen it.. If you was to pee and the chemical wasn't it the pool the area would get a little warm but you probly wouldn't be able to tell.. Water wouldn't change colors to beable to tell.. It's not good to pee in a pool, It can cause a blader infection.. It's just nicer to just go to a bathroom..

Urban Myth # 467 "If you’re going to Pee, we will see !"
Remember as a kid, your parents would tell you that if you peed in the pool it would react with a special chemical that would cause a big red cloud in the water and everyone could tell that you were doing "Number 1" ?
Well, there really is no such chemical, but this threat has stopped kids from peeing in pools for generations.

yes that is completely true! My grandmother was vacationing in Sweden with my grandpa and tey visited a local swimming pool there. Not long after being in the pool she had an urge to pee and did not make it out of the pool. She was horrified when a "Stream" of pink followed her until she got out of the pool!

no. it depends on the compenents you put in the pool...
After I wash my toilets, Some spots always get pink after I pee on them. I guess it's the chlore that changes color if put in an environment with a specific acidity. (and it's the same kind of products you use in both cases)
But I think your friend is pulling your leg, the quantity of pee you would have to put inside the pool for it to turn red is enormous...

Yep, there are chemicals you can buy to put in pools that turn red when it detects urine. Maybe it turns red to single you out better and leave a trail as you flop around in his pool.
