The lack of knowledge brings them to this conclusion.
Main difference between Muslims and Christians is that Muslim say Jesus is not God but a prophet of God, which Bible also agrees with.
We say Jesus didn't die on the cross, they say he did.
Other than that, we as Muslims believe that Jesus was born off a vigrin, he gave life to deads with God's permission, he healed people with God's permission and his 2nd coming before the judgement day.

There is a whole chapter in Quran dedicated to Jesus' mother Mary called "Suhar Al-Mariam" or "Chapter of Mary" which lacks in the current Bible.
There is also a chapter in Quran called "Suhar Al-Imran" which also provide many many details about Jesus that Bible also lacks.

Muslim's do believe in jesus, but only as a prophet not as the son of god, Muslims do not believe in any sort of son of god and Mohamed is actually just a great prophet to them, to be utterly honest you should read what you can of the bible, for most viewpoints you hold are in order with what the new testament preaches. The new testament teaches us that you can only believe in one god and that jesus is the son of god if you do not believe in the divinty of jesus then you are lost. But the new testament is more about living by the spirit and doing what is right and what you know is right than following a law. All in all its a tricky situation to decided your faith but just think of this,
All three monothesistic relgions Judaism, Christianity, and Islam are all founded on the same basic princples and have most of the same stories, Jesus fufills all that i have found of the old testament prophecies about the comming of a christ, while the Quran or Koran was the prophet mohameds was written entirely by his hand once his ideas were rejected by local jewish rabbi's the prophet mohamed was also directed various military campaigns to further the Muslim faith in what is known as present day sadi arabia. Notice: there might be some errors in what i just typed since some of it is thing's i have read check it yourself over at wikipedia.org or read the bible and koran

I'm sorry, I only skimmed your additional details because I hate reading...

Ppl don't know much about Islam period.. I mean, there's a lot of non-Muslims who think "Allah" is a seperate god, and not the one true God. It comes from ignorance... and from a lot of Muslims who can't truly explain their own beliefs. But, this is true in all religions-- most of the followers of that religion don't really know what they believe, they just know what to say.. and Islam isn't really (in my opinion) a missionary type of religion, like Christianity is.. so few Muslims explain what they believe, they just mostly try to explain how alike they are with others-- in order to be accepted, and not considered a terrorist, which I can understand.

About you converting to Islam...
Think long and hard about your choices, and above all, pray.. ask God for guidance. I'm a Christian. But, there was a time in my life when I considered converting to Islam-- but I couldn't bear it because I'm so hard-core in believing Jesus was born of a virgin and that He was crucified.

That's the biggest disparity between Islam and Christianity--and the cornerstone of our faith. We believe that Jesus died on the Cross.. and that He rose again after 3 days. Muslims don't believe He died, they believe it was a scam-- and that's unfortunate, and totally unacceptable to me. If Jesus didn't die, there would've been no point for Him to have lived. He was born to be a sacrifice for our sins, and through Him we can live. He wasn't just born to say some cute words, and then come back later to turn the whole world into Muslims.

Also, the idea of "works" to in order to get to heaven is what Jesus came to destroy. I would get into it further, but I don't want to overstep my boundaries. If you want to hear more from me, just email me. Thankies :)

My dear,
As for your question as to why people think that Muslim do not believe in Jesus is due to the fact that Christianity do not believe that Muhammad is a prophet. Hence if someone belief in Muhammad then the Society would proclaim that Muslim do not believe in Jesus. Contrary to their beliefs, a MUSLIM Is NOT a Muslim unless he believes in the existence of Jesus Christ.
I am glad to hear abt your curiosity of Islam. My advice to you would be to do extensive research on it.
I was once lost too, I did not know much abt the religion I was born into(Islam), so I did research on it and compare the teachings of Christianity and Judaism to understand the differences. Here is a good Link for you to explore the comparison of Islam and Christianity . May God guide your path with his wisdom and compassion.

Muslims believe in Christ as a prophet, and not the Son of God. They believe he died before he finished his work, well, not even that he died, but that he was taken to Heaven before the crucifiction. So, they believe Muhammed was the last prophet, even though Jesus said in the Bible he was "the first and the LAST". So, they negate his sacrifice for sins, and downgrade him from the SOn of God, to merely a prophet.

Look deeper into the religion. You will find it is not nearly as simple as you may think.

Based on your additional details, Islam is probably not right for you, but if your interested, theres no harm in looking into it.

Well, I have to admit, I've been thinking the same thing, especially since Islam is a religion like none other. I think it offers peace of mind, heart and soul. Muslims do believe in Jesus, but not as the son, but as a prophet like every other prophet. I do know where you can get some answers to your question. Email me at teleservicer@sbcglobal.net and I could refer you to someone who could give you some advice as well as answer some questions you might have.

Moeslems see Mohammed as the main character. They acknowledge Jesus too, the named him as Isa. But for them Mohammed is the last saviour send by God after Jesus. some of Moeslems claim islam as last religion that complete the Christian.
Like Jesus when claimed he completed the jewish old religion.

Oh yeah, try to learn Buddhism and Hinduism, They have a different concept of God but logical and make sense too. All religions are beautiful

After you study them all a bit, make the choice that suitable for you

I'm Muslim and I can confirm that I believe in Jesus as a prophet of God. This is in our holy book "Quran".
We believe that Jesus is a soul or spirit was formed in human body as he, peace be upon him, was born for a virgin mother. I hope it is clear.
Ibn Arabi, a Muslim author of many books reveal the truth of Islam, said “ Jesus is the soul of God” but this doesn’t mean that he would reach the level of Goddess.
And one more important thing, that we believe that Jesus hadn't been killed or died. We believe that because he was a soul and souls will never die then it means he never died, but God arose him to heaven. This is because the soul never separate from eternal living (soul never die). And we believe that Jesus will come again to the earth to fight the “Dajjal” and to spread the peace allover the world with cooperation with the “Mahdi”.
Mohammed, peace be upon him, is the last prophet of God who came with the comprehensive message that complete the past messages of the past prophets as Moses and Jesus.

Dear,
God will be with you no matter what religion you choose!
Is not about belonging to a Religion! Is about belonging to GOD's truly will... that is LOVE!
So if you love in all your actions in your daily life... is ok any religion you choose.
But BE AWARE: You must KNOW better to decide! It seems clearly to me that you don't know about Islam or Christians.
Go and talk to a priest about this too. Talk all you need. Then decide.
GOD of course is not in hurry to see which one you like! You shouldn't! :D

True Muslims believe in Jesus, because in the Quran, Muhammad Himself recognized the Prophethood of Jesus:

Say ye, 'We believe in God, and what has been revealed to us, and what has been revealed to Abraham, and Ishmael, and Isaac, and Jacob, and the Tribes, and what was brought to Moses and Jesus, and what was brought unto the Prophets from their Lord; we will not distinguish between any one of them, and unto Him are we resigned.'
(The Qur'an (E.H. Palmer tr), Sura 2 - The Heifer)
