Get a book on basic German, and don't be afraid to practice your German by talking to people (which should be relatively easy, since you're in Germany already).

Practise as often as you can by talking in the little german you know whenever possible. Even if the other person speaks english, don't take the easy way & speak english back to them. Use your german skillz!

Obviously you have made acquaintances in Germany. Ask them for help. It's good that you are there and a lot of conversational every-day language may be picked up just being there.
