I'm pregnant so I need to use something without amonia. I was told that because of the light color of my hair the only thing that would work was a darker color. Is there a product out there that will make my hair closer to a medium brown without damaging my baby in any way? Even then, will that take the pinkish tint away?

OK. First of all, this is VERY common. Pregnancy causes very strange things to happen to your body! Depending on the type of dye you used you should try to strip it from your hair first. the most "gentle" thing I could recommend is Prell shampoo. This will strip many kinds of color from your hair. You need to be very careful when mixing colors. For example, if you used a metallic dye on your hair, you should never re-dye with ammonia based color--very bad. Henna doesn't play well with others either. Try the Prell. if that doesn't take the color out, you should try a non ammonia based color in the neutral or ash family. You need to figure out what the level of your hair color is. This usually ranges from 1 (being the darkest, or black) to 10 or 12(pale yellow) depending on the manufacturer of the product. You should try not to go more than 2 levels darker or lighter.

first of all color DOES NOT have an affect on your baby. think about it, color doesn't flow through your blood stream. this would be the only way that it would affect the baby. there are no cases anywhere that color has ever affected an unborn child.

second as you are pegnant, your hormones will have an affect on how your color turns out.
putting a red based color on blond hair usually (typically) makes the color turn out brighter
also red is the largest color molecule, so this means that depending on the state that your cuticle is in will depend on how your hair will hold onto the color.
if you have a more poreous type then the color will probably look great for the first day until you wash it. then it lightens right up and your left with some funky color

also whoever told you that you had to go darker, was wrong

you can keep your lighter color without color on your scalp-
get highlights instead (doesn't touch the scalp) if you are worried about it
I died my hair with both my pregnancies and my children are fine.

You don't need to strip the color out. Use Prell shampoo or dish detergent to fade the color out, make sure to use conditioner after. Keep using it a few times a week for a couple of weeks and then re color. Try a medium brown in a nuetral shade. The reason your hair turned pink is because your hair is probably porous and auburn has red in the base,it will show up pink and some times lavendar if there is purple in the base. Don't use ash,you will wind up with green or gray hair.

Seriously, if I were you, I'd just try again with a deeper auburn color. It's a very attractive and versatile hair color. I absolutely loved mine when I dyed it. You could even try to dye it dark brown (because you're naturally blonde) and do redish highlights. Now mine's dark brown (nearly black) with small and well blended streaks and I couldn't be happier with it. Give it a try.

I'm sure you could ask any hair dresser about the chemicals that are contained in hairdyes (whether you're having them do it or you're planning on buying your own). If I'm not mistaken, most of the temporary colors are amonia free...Try Loreal.

This happened to a friend of mine once. She called the number on the box and they told her to buy stripper. It's just like hair dye and you can find it in the same section where you bought the coloring.Or you can wash you're hair 3 or 4 times a day.It will wash out within 2 or 3 day's if you do this.

if you have blonde hair that will naturally get bleached by the sun in the summer. There was this guy in my class who had golden blonde hair that had been a medium brown near the bottom. When he came back to college after summer vacation, it was almost platinum blonde!

The reason why is everyone with blond, why aren't you just have jet black tresses with some blonde or blonde curly hair with some jet black hair. Now you don't have to choose.
