I recently purchased two small 6.5" subs with these specs:

PAPER CONE RUBBER EDGE
20 OZ MAGNET
4-LAYERS VOICE COIL(AL): 1.5"
MAX POWER: 300 W
FREQ. RESP.: 40-300HZ
IMPEDANCE: 4 OHM
SPL.: 92dB/W/M

may not be too powerful but thay were darn cheap. I wanted to know what specs I would need in an amp to run them. I also have a Kenwood soundsystem in the car (2x 6x9" 330watts + 2x 4" 100watts + 200watt headunit all kenwood) but I couldn't resist the price of these subs.

What type and size of amp should I look for?

Okay so you have 2, 300w sub's and 2, 6*9 330w and 100w and 200w.

I think a 1200w amplifier will be best for you it give you good sound with a bit of freedom to add something if you feel like it

if you are looking for an amp to power the subs only you don't need to get a huge one. I would suggest a Profile California series mono amp, about 400 watts and 2 ohm stable. You would connect the subs in parallel making it a 2 ohm load on the amp. You would also need to have a sub box made for them. I would assume that each sub would use a .50-.75 cubic foot box. As for the other speakers you have, a 1000watt 4 channel amp would probably do you good. You don't want too much power going to them or you could blow your speakers. When you go to adjust the level for the amps, at first have them turned low and the radio volume up the where you would usually listen to it and turn up the amp levels, one at a time, to the level where you feel is good and won't damage your speakers.

Had the same thing sounded OK ran them on a 250W amp then changed the amp to a 400w now there gone don't go vary much higher than 400w if you do have the amp down aslow as it can than go higher. Try kenwood or any outher amp that you like.

I dont know if you want to get an amp for everthing but if you do get a 4ch 400watt rms amp for the fullrange speakers. For those specific subs a 300watt rms amp will do just fine. Please note that the power ratings suggested are rms and not peak. All the power ratings you provided were peak which are useless so only use rms.

there grow to be a time even as a thirty watt in preserving with ch at 8 ohm amp might want to were considered extremely sufficient. inventory, maximum vehicles got here with a lot less. save on the very extreme end. in case your audio gadget are usual oval Rear Deck audio gadget, it likely nevertheless is. it would want to in the different case count number on the magnet and coil length, and compliance of the audio gadget, and probably, they're 4 ohm drivers, so 30 watts rms at 8 ohms frequently outputs 60 watts of administration to 4 ohm audio gadget. once you've established oval deck audio gadget with say, 8 ounce magnets on them, getting a whopping large amplifier wont do you any good. It merely skill once you twitch the volume administration a touch to some distance, you'll turn the cones interior out, and harm them. in case your motor vehicle is an exceedingly quiet veritable live performance hall on wheels, an somewhat extreme priced rig might want to, might want to, be powerful looking on your musical tastes. when you're merely drowning out engine knock, holding with the activities, FM radio, i doesn't difficulty.

brotie shut up, if your gonna try and sell your stuff dont lie about other peoples equipment to make yours look better wtf "any amp over 1000w is only putting out 100watts true power" your out of your damn mind. to answer the question though make sure your amp is 2 ohm stable at least and around 400 watts rms, I say 100 watts over your rating because you dont want the amp busting its balls just to push your subs at rms. A smart person can always not turn the raido up too loud but if your amps straing its not gonna last too long.

Like you've been told all your life, size don't matter!

Ok, so you need to find out the RMS that your subs need and... im thinkin sumin around 150W RMS. So a 600W amp will do ya good if its puttin out no more than 300W RMS because thats your max power. It dont matter if you have a 1600W amp puttin out 300W RMS or if you have a 400W amp puttin out 300W RMS. Big aint always good, its what you need/use.

look first of all any amp over 1000w is only hitting 100w true
so i say go with a 100w amp. preferably a punch. i got one lying around. e-mail me if you want details.the 100w punch picked up my 2 12" kickers really good so I'm sure it would do good and get the job done on your subs.
