I just got my hair done at the hairdresser's and was totally happy cos i had so much volume in my hair. And the guy didnt even use any products on me. All he did was blowdry my hair many times over in different directions...and voila! i look like jen aniston!
But i cant get the same effect at home. After a wash,my hair ends up flat. How do i blowdry my hair like a professional?

First of all, find out what kind of shampoo he used on you. Many of the products you buy out of the salon contain wax or plastic. These tend to give your hair shine, but they will weigh it down. You should also invest in a good brush. If you noticed, he cut your hair before he dried it. You should always blow dry your hair until it is slightly damp before you start to style it. Use a hot dryer and a brush in the direction you want your hair to go. When it is dry, hit it with the cool shot button on you dryer. If you dont have this, lift the hair at the roots with the brush and put the dryer (high heat) at the roots until the hair heats up. Careful not to burn your scalp. Then, simply turn the dryer off and allow the hair to cool on the brush. This will give you volume.

I had the exact same problem! My hair is so striaght and silky that it just falls flat after I spend a half hour on it...so I completely feel your pain!

Well what I do now is this:

Towel dry my hair after my shower.
Apply any brand of mousse in it at the scalp.
Then, blowdry it upside down with a big round hairbrush.
Flip your head right side up and then style it a little bit.

It works. :)

Bend over and blow dry while your head is upside down...especially get the back closest to your scalp dry as well as the crown (the top of your head toward the back) dry before you start in with any kind of brush. Also, if your blow dryer has a cool setting this will really help...after you have been blowing hot air and your roots are pretty dry (head upside down still) use the cool setting...

Use a volumizing shampoo and conditioner. Put a volumizing mousse on damp hair, flip your head over, and then blow-dry. Blow-drying your hair while your head is flipped over will add more volume to your hair.

I like to use the volumizing Pantene shampoo and conditioner. It smells great. But after I wash my hair I blow dry it using a round brush.
When brushing don't pull the brush down pull
it out. When finished use the Pantene volumizing hair spray .Tease your hair out some to add
volume .Then spray.

blow dry your hair the opposite direction and than back in the direction you want it in over and over.make sure your hand rubs a little next to your scalp so that the hair next to your scalp dries first. The heat from the drier and your hands together make the hair next to your scalp dry first than work on the rest of your hair .see you dont want the rest of the hair to dry first the scalp takes longer to dry and that can cause damage if the rest of the hair is dry and the scalps not.
