I met my wife on Yahoo Personals. Too bad she was in the Philippines and I had no idea what I mess I'd gotten myself into just because I was so lonely! I spent thousands of dollars and took two years during which I made two trips to the philippines and lived in a house without running water for six months, to top it off we had a kid in the middle of all the immigration forms, fees and requirements, and now live in the US where she has a nice job and I stay home watching our son. We still can't afford a house though because I don't have a job, just am on disability for shyness. If I wasn't so shy I would've met someone while hiking or at the library or somewhere normal while doing what I enjoy so I'd meet someone compatible. Only now does Yahoo Personals let you take a personality and compatibility test. After we got back we both took it and we aren't compatible at all. Who knows what'll happen in a couple more years? I have grave doubts.

It is wonderful on the Yahoo personals. I dated one guy for two years. My daughter met her man in five minutes on yahoo personals- they have been together for over two years and have a one year old little boy. I know several people who have met their spouses on yahoo personals.
Sure, there are crazy people out there, but there are also some great guys. It is the only way I have to meet men my age locally.

I met my wife on yahoo personals. We dated for 91 days and then got married. Been happily married for almost 9 years. She is the first and only person I ever met online. Great success!

I made contact with one woman that I was interested in but she told me I lived too far away and that was the end of that. Most of the responses I got were email scams. Even one about the famous Nigeria scam. Some of the responses were obscene and I complained. It's like anything these days. Some people like to mess things up for others... they seem to receive pleasure from bringing misery to other peoples lives. Glad to hear that it worked well for you. However, I'm confused why you would ask the question? Are you having doubts?

Fritz B if you don't mind me asking what were your reasons for turning to Yahoo! personals?
Was it hard for you to approach girls in real life or was it something where you wanted to be able to filter out the ones whose personality you would clash with? Or is it something different?
I'm asking as a serious question (even though I'm supposed to be answering yours)

BTW I haven't really ever met anyone from the net.

No luck at all.
No one responds to my profile.
Actually I could say that about most of the dating websites I've been to.

There's only one website I've got responses, but it never went anywhere. Those girls find someone eventually or they never emailed me back.

By the way, I'm not a jerk. I'm very nice and respectful to these women.
