I got a traffic ticket for entering the freeway from an incorrect lane, a cop was waiting there fully knowing someone would make this mistake, he asked me if I knew what I got stopped for and told him exactly that I knew why he was there, when he handed me the ticket he said he would be on vacation on the court date so the ticket would be dismissed but after reading the back of the ticket it says if I contest the violation, come to the court on the appearance date to request a court trial on a "future date when an officer and any witnesses will be present" YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO SUBMIT THE BAIL AMOUNT what do you think ?

OK a lot of good advise, but I went to the courthouse this morning and to add more to the obscurity of this ticket they said they don't have a record of my ticket "would you like us to enter it in our computer ?, we are required to ask YOU", I'm not kidding, I kept my composure and asked "is it safe if I don't request it be added to your computer ?" she said yes but you should file a tracer (trace the status of the ticket) so I will have proof that I appeared on the date of the traffic ticket... so I went with that since it seems like the most sensible thing to do... but makes me wonder where this is going... I have the strangest luck... or is it ?

Is it really feasible to fight this ticket?? Lets see, you'll have to take off of work and take a vacation day. Yes, you get paid but wouldn't you rather use your vacation day for something else?
In most jurisdiction, the date on the ticket is a plea date, meaning you either plea, guilty, not guilty, or no contest. If you plea not guilty then a trial date is set up along with a pre-trial or status conference date.
You should just pay the ticket and move on, unless the points will drive you over into suspension land. Plus, you've already admitted to the officer that you knew exactly why you were in the car pool lane instead of the other lane.

Hi well the officer should know all about having to be there, he probably wanted you to look like a fool in front of court. best thing to do is seek advice from a legal aid officer, or find a layer that doesn't charge for the first visit. i don't know what country you are from. The cheapest thing to do is to pay the ticket, as bail and court cost are very costly. But if you do want to fight the ticket best thing to do is seek legal advice.

Depending on local laws, either,
A) Pay the fine if you're guilty
B) Show up in court, lose a workday, and possibly have it dismissed--or face an even larger fine from the judge should the cop actually show up.
Sounds to me also like the courts where you are at assume automatic guilt if they require you to ante up the bail in advance.....?

Ouch, nicely you be conscious of you shouldnt be rushing yet what's achieved is complete. generally the choose looks at your previous information/tickets and decides in step with them. whilst somebody's record is sparkling the choose will positioned you on supervision and make you pay the positive. this suggests that in case you get yet another cost tag interior of 6 months you will come again to courtroom and you will get harder fines etc. on your case because you do have past tickets he may well be a sprint harder. you additionally can evaluate getting a criminal expert to return with you and you will get off ordinary. the only draw back is they're high priced :( p.s you additionally can plead no longer in charge and if the cop isn't there to declare in any different case or take care of himself...your case would be thrown out.

sounds like if you knew what he was doing sitting there, and you knew that it was the wrong lane to be entering the freeway from, like you were "daring" the officer to see if he would stop you or not. just pay the ticket and go on.

Your guilty--Pay the fine and go to Traffic School. Choose your battles. This one you're not going to win. Tickets are part of the price you pay for driving a car.

Send the money in...show up for court, the cop won't show and you'll claim your check back at the receptionist. I've went though it 10 times. I think what you are reading is if you personally cannot show up for the case, not the cop.

I've known a few people who actually continued through to the court date. The cop does not show up and the mere fact that you carried it through that far gets you off. They just assume you are innocent if you fight it that hard.

I am not sure of the law in you state, but you might be able to:
a.) ask to talk to the judge and if you have a clean record simply ask that the ticket be dismissed.
b.) plead not guilty and request a trial by jury
