Does anyone know if there is a health risk to radiation exposure for X-ray technicians on the job?

A radiographer is one who is trained in X ray and related technics.It has now several specialities like contrast X ray ,Computerised axial tomography,Ultra sonography,Magnetic resonance imaging,and Isotope scanning. If you work hard your career will be bright. Do not bother about radiation hazards.You do the job with adequate precautions provided by employer .

x-rays have a potential of causing genetic damage and cancer, the chances of being harmed from medical or dental x-rays is extremely small. In fact, natural radiation may pose a greater risk. A person can safely get up to 300 simple x-rays a year. X-ray scans of body areas drastically reduce the safety factor, but it is still within an acceptable range. Still, it is always good to be on the cautious side and not receive excessive x-rays

There is a health risk to radiation for X-ray technicians, but they have things to help reduce those radiation. They are required to use lead apron for their neck and body. Another precaution they use is a test strip badge that has their name and are required to wear whenever they work so they can keep track of the amount of radiation that their bodies are expose to.

It really depends how careless the x-ray tech is. Standards require protection for the tech. You perhaps have noticed they always slip behind a wall with a small viewing window. That wall is lead protected and keeps the radiation from penetrating.

If the tech follows the safety rules, there is no risk.

techs have to wear a small radiation badge that monitors how much radiation they are actually exposed to-this badge gets turned in every month or so to be evaluated.

when taking the acutal xray-they stand behind a protective barrier which greatly reduces the risk.

There is always a risk involved with radiation. They do have some protection from the wall they stand behind. They have a badge that they wear (or they use to) that somehow measures the amount of radiation that they absorb.

Probably, although now adays the technicians wear protective cloths or leave the room. Early on, Doctors that used X rays almost casually ended up with all sorts of horrible deseases.

no not really a little maybe they are well protected and stand behind glass when they take the picture
