Well...when you get up in the morning and look in the mirror...what do you see? Beautiful or butt-ugly, is the face looking back at you self-aware? Without getting into complex ethical questions, I'd say honesty means living by your values. I once had a boss who was the meanest, most dishonest jerk I've ever met. But he was happy with himself and understood his (lack of, I suppose) ethics.
Being able to face the (wo)man in the mirror is what it is all about in terms of gauging personal honesty. As far as "happiness"... well, my friend, i can't say I know. I would say that when you really love someone, you have stopped looking...and are happy. Best of luck to you and keep searching! (-: Jose

You can tell yourself things for so long that you eventually believe it... life sucks so there are always going to be bumps in the road so try not to ask yourself that question too often.... Also.. I would use that question more so if your dating a man at first it will be all peaches and cream but maybe 6 months later ask yourself, do i ever want to date another man again? Or do I want to die in his arms... Am i really happy with him... If you can bring up a bunch of flaws with him within 2 seconds you may want to reconsider your relationship with him.

follow your heart. Only you know if you are being honest with yorself. Journal, write, talk to a friend, look into yourself and ask yourself this question. Nobody can anser it for you.

Honesty is based on your reality.
Dont do that let him go and if loves you he'll come back crap.
Write a list of pros and cons. forces out the issues anyway.
Then ask him how he fits into your reality...

if you are not thinking twice. if you do not feel any regret. and you're happy. then you really are loving someone. then you are honest.

when i stand in front of the mirror and place the good angel off my shoulder and ask him ( Means ask myself) what have you done through the day ?
and i answer by yelling to myself about bad stuff and appraising myself about good stuff
