No worse than the sin of being born. Because your religion probably talks about "original sin", that would include merely being born. If you're a teenager --- and you likely are if you are asking this question --- then the desire to masturbate often is perfectly normal. Whoever might be telling you things to make you feel guilty about it, was likely told that when they were kids. Well, you should throw the "sin" aspect in the trash, because it ain't going to stop you from your biological urges, it will only make you feel bad about yourself afterwards.

If you want to concern yourself with real sins, don't support behavior or policies that coerce or otherwise harm others. What you do with your own body in the privacy of your bedroom is your own business. Just don't sniff any glue, Ok?

That's a difficult questions. I just checked out a few message boards and Christian forums... some pretty definite camps out there. There are those that say heck no, it's NOT okay, there are those that say of course, it IS okay, and there are a few who wander around discussing the issue and leaving the question as an interesting debate.

There are lots of ways of looking at it, both Scripturally and from the human viewpoint. If you are masturbating with someone's wife in mind, then you are committing adultery. If you are married you should think of your own wife. If you are single, you should think of a single woman.

Some of this sounds pretty silly to me. Seems like you should pray to Jesus to deliver you from sin, and to lead you not into temptation but into righteousness. My guess? That if your heart is pure, then your actions will be also. Probably not a sin. (Better than engaging in premarital sex, actual adultery, or creating a pregnancy you aren't prepared to support).

Yes. The very noble purpose of God in giving you your sex organs is to procreate life and not for pleasure. If you do that act even w/ any purpose, it is a sin. It's because you are disobeying his will.

Thinking unholy thoughts is a sin. So if, while masterbating, your thinking of someone else is a sexual way, it is a sin. If your masterbating and your thinking of what your going to get at the grocery store tomorrow, then its not ( unless of course, grocery stores turn you on...then its just wrong)

Masurbation is considered a sin, It doesn't plainly say it like that in the bible, but it does say, do not have or partake in any form sexual immorality. And it also says not to lust. if you want a deeper undestanding of this go to gotquestions.org and ask them. they should give you a more legit answer than i have.

This is sad, I have to rescue my Christian brothers and sisters in answering this question.
I am quoting Jesus: Matthew 5:27-30
27 "You have heard that it was said, 'You shall not commit adultery.'

28 But I say to you, everyone who looks at a woman with lust has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

29 If your right eye causes you to sin, tear it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one of your members than to have your whole body thrown into Gehenna.

30 And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one of your members than to have your whole body go into Gehenna.

i dont think its ever mentioned specifically in the bible but in the jewish POV its a sin because you shouldnt be masturbating, you should be out there having sex (within marriage), and wasted semen is a wasted child
