Eat small nutritious meals every two to three hours each meal should have a protein source, that will speed up your metabolism.

Then do cardio for at least 30 mins a day 4 - 5 times a week. Fat will melt off. Nothing burns calories more than muscle so add resistance training once you've taught yourself to become disciplined.

You know exactly what you should eat and what you shouldn't ..... don't you? Your problem, like just about everyone else on this planet who wants to lose weight, is motivation and will power. Okay ......
Tip 1: remember that once you start eating your required calorie intake for the day or less, your weight will simply not increase again so start by making a triumph out of staying the same for at least a week. I guess that's a case of trial and error to start but it will tone the way and what you eat to begin with. It may not seem like a triumph but just think about it .,,,,, you are sad because you have put on weight and now you haven't ..... a great step in the right direction.
Tip 2: when you have a STABLE weight for a week or two ..... then start to imagine how ugly you feel with the extra weight .... think how grotesque your additional fat is making you feel, how unhappy you are .... really torture yourself about this and realise that you are now going to kick that all into touch ....... you are in control of your destiny here and for once in your life you are going to damn well help yourself. BY asking the question here you are appealing for a magic fairy to come into your life! Well, it is already here .. YOU ..... just give yourself permission to kick the old you into touch and stick to simply less food and the right kind ... you know what they are ... the first chocolate bar to put down will be the hardest I know but the next will be easier and easier and easier, as with everything else. NOTHING will change unless you make it ... we have all been there ...... go for it!
Tip 3: the loss of weight, even a pound or two, will make you feel like moving more ... don't join expensive gyms or buy fancy equipment ,...... simply walk and jog at your leisure. A dog is a great boon here to get out and about. Or if you like shopping, go to the biggest mall you can find and walk it every weekend, around and around to keep your interest and until you are fit to drop ... but DON'T drop in for a coffee and a danish to pleasure yourself ... take bottled water!

Good luck ..... hope this helps ....... it did for me!

Me and nine other coworkers started a competetion to see who can lose the most weight percentage and fat percentage over a period of 12 weeks time. We have $1000 going to the winner. This was all the motivation I needed - not so much the money but the bragging rights. I have lost 12 pounds and I am barely in the third week of competetion.

I basically cut my calories to 1200 a day, which isnt that much but if you know what to eat it can be quite alot of food. For example, if you go to subway that is the equivelent of four turkey breast sandwiches. And of course weight training will do wonders for your weight loss.

You could try the Hay System - Book title includes "Food combining for health & life". It is an eating system that seperates carbs from proteins, with many neutral foods in the mix. Unlike some more extreme diets, you don't loose any food group. I tried this system to help with some health issues it is reputed to have helped and it did help me, as well as by default loosing weight.

Another tip is to get real busy in your life, find new interests and focuses. There is nothing like knowing your on a diet + wanting to cut back to intensify interest in food + more cravings.

Good luck, the biggest journey begins with a single step, so some small little changes will in time take effect. Don't push yourself too hard but try to make ongoing lifestyle changes so your weight doesn't yo yo

Get a friend to do it with you, stick to the outer aisles of the grocery store, the middle aisles are where they keep the junk food, keep a journal of exercise and what you eat, cook your own food, if you already eat home cooking alot then substitute baking, steaming, poaching, grilling, slow cooking and smoking for frying. Try to find something you like to do like swimming, biking, or hiking and make it easier for you to do. Keep your bike handy, so instead of driving the car to the store you pedal there. Purchase a nice pool, not one of those dinky plastic shells or anything that is thin. Find the parks in your area and explore.
Fool yourself into doing exercise, park farther away, use the stairs, dance to a song you like, if you are in line stretch your body.
There are some less known stuff you can do like eat breakfast, get a consistent full night's sleep, taking a longer lunch with friends, drinking milk or eating yogurt with a meal instead of as a meal, drinking a glass of water with every meal and when your stomach growls and drinking a glass of wine with a light dinner. And finally eating all these meals at the same time everyday. All these things aid digestion, and keep you from feeling hungry.
Remember you don't have to eat it all, and they do make one serving portions of favorite foods. A pint of ice cream instead of a half gallon, a kids pack of chips instead of a big bag, a nice cut of meat instead of a big bag of chicken. Pay attention next time the tv shows are doing a nutrition segments, I learned all this from reading magazines and watching tv.

Weight Watchers Points is a great diet to do. I am eating the same amount of food but just changed what I eat. I make sure we have our 5 portions of fruit and veg a day, cut out pastries, Pies, cheese, fast easy food like nuggets, scampi etc. I buy tesco healthy living food where I can. and so far I have lost 1st 12lb in 13 weeks and my husband has lost 2st 6lb. I also bought two points cook books and use them alot, they are easy to follow and good for you.

Having struggled to lose weight over many years, and tried many different methods, there is only one thing I would suggest - stop dieting and fighting your will! Then read Paul McKenna's "I can Make You Thin". It comes with a CD and helps you change your whole attitude to food. Simple rules to follow, in simple no nonsense language. Easy to get hold of in the shops (i'm in the UK) and online.

It has really changed my relationship with food.

Hi
This plan helped me stay consistent and motivated so here goes,
If you are serious about losing weight, the calories in the food you eat should be less than the energy you use. You will have to increase your metabolic rate now, and plan your diet carefully.
Formulate your own weight loss plan and you will lose weight faster. More details available at http://tinyurl.com/m7ckx

Good luck

The main reason people have trouble losing weight is that they try and go it alone which doesn't work, you need support, another reason is because they don't understand how to get the body into the fat burning zone, they don't know how the body loses fat, most of the weight loss programs also don't know how to get your body into the fat burning zone.
