The very few that I've been in have afforded the opportunity to go hang out, have a drink (yes, you can drink non-alcoholic beverages in a bar), and just "be."
They are also places to meet new people, especially of the opposite sex. This is best when there's a dance floor. Two people can hook up and leave the bar together for sin elsewhere. Or, you can meet someone who is also just out "casual-izing" for the evening, chat, and leave alone.
Sin is in the heart first, you know.

well I think for one it depends on the bar. some bars are very classy and others are just down right skanky. But there is temptation at bars and temptation is what leads to sin. I don't drink but i don't believe that having an occasional drink is a sin but i believe that being a drunk is a sin and getting drink is a sin. Then lots of people go to bars to pick up one night stands which is definitely a sin. There is a bar here that serves food and has a live band sometimes and we might go to hear the band and dance. (we being me and my fiance) So anyway you have to be very careful when going to bars cause they can draw you into the world of sin.

There is no more sin in a bar than at a library. Its not the place or drink, its the person.

Depends on what bar you go to and how conservative you are. I would go with yes. But it can also be a whole lot of fun, and its not like you have to take part in that 'sin' just because you go.

Most people are just trying to socialize with their friends and have a good time.It depends on the individual what they do. You don't have to be afraid. Just because other people are doing things wrong, doesn't mean you have to. I don't think Jesus ever said, stay away from sinners.

Yes.
Alcohol tends to reduce a person's inhibitions and wisdom (which can then lead to sin).
I commend you for not drinking. I do not drink either (but I dont condemn people who drink in moderation).
Cordially,
John
