Signs of Lying:
Touching chin, or rubbing their brows.
Crossed arms or legs.
Playing with hair.
A line of perspiration on the brow if it isn't a warm day.
Saying "no" several times.
Continual denying of accusations.
Being extremely defensive.
Providing more information and specifics than is necessary or was asked for.
Inconsistencies in what is being shared.
Body language and facial expressions don't match what is being said such as saying "no", but nodding head up and down.
Smugness.
May place a barrier such as a desk or chair in front of self.
Uncommon calmness.
Unwillingness to touch spouse during conversation.
Being hesitant.
Slouching posture.
Rigidity or fidgeting.
Differing behaviors. Not acting in a usual fashion.
Unnatural or limited arm and hand movements.
Partial shrug.
Lack of finger pointing.
Unusual voice fluctuations, word choice, sentence structure.
Stalling the conversation by repetitive use of pauses and comments like "um" or "you know".
Lack of use of contractions. Prefers emphasizing "not" when talking.
Avoidance of eye contact, eyes glancing to the right, staring past you, or turning away from you while they are talking. However, some honesty experts, like Stan Walters, say that measuring eye contact isn't an effective tool in detecting deception.

well one thing that has helped me to catch many a liar is the eyes:
# 1 if they can't look straight into yours, they are probably being less than honest (lying)
#2 if, when answering, they look off to their left, it is a sign if lying (remembering is right, lying is left)
# 3 (not always 100%) if they wiggle around alot/can't sit still, but if someone is hyperactive, they might still be moving in their sleep; so this isn't necessarily a good gauge of whether or not they'e being truthful.

Refusal to make eye contact, blinking suddenly at certain questions watch out for signs of nervousnes such as twitching hands and eyes and lips! Good luck if you come across a hardened liar !

There are, I don't remember them all. Some are specific to one person, some are pretty universal. Like most people, when they're lying, will usually keep their hands still and are more likely to look you dead in the eye. If a person looks up and to the righ (their right), chances are they're trying to remember something. if they look up and to the left, they're trying to make something up.
but these are just general clues, they're not absolutes.

when lying the person automatically darts the eyes down and to the left and also unconciously will cover the mouth with a hand or blink when saying a lie or they cover or cross the legs and the arms

yes you can spot a liar when he sniffs after a sentance, they rub the side of thier nose, they repeat things for instance you ask them a question they will say no twice in a row, they will look away when giving you an answer, they will blush in the face, they will smile to the point of laughing when asked a question, they cant look in your eyes when talking to you.......i hope all this helps

I think scratching or touching your face when your talking is a sign of lying.
