it is not the Islam under attack. but the people who took the path of terrorism happen to be Muslims. they openly declare that they are waging jihad. their activities are not confined to the USA but also spread through out the world. India, UK, china, Chechnya , Pakistan and severAL countries are affected by terrorist activities of the al qaida, let, jem, Taliban's. it is the duty of religious heads of the Islam to use a fatwa declaring the activities of the terrorist groups as un Islamic.

All other religions are being attacked also, you're just a little more sensitive about criticism towards Islam. Perhaps if there weren't so many murderous nutcases in the middle east spouting anti-everyone else rhetoric and then blowing things up, people would get a clearer picture of your faith. It is hard to keep an open mind around fanatics and unfortunately, it is Islam's turn to be led by irrational sociopaths. Perhaps if everyone started celebrating their similarities and accepting their differences we could dispense with all this "MY God is better than your God" angst and TRUE peace could be found.

Islam is not the only religion under constant attack, far from it actually. Christianity, Judaism, Wicca, they're all attacked just about as constantly. Sometimes however the religions bring it onto themselves, like the case with Islam. You simply don't see crazed Jews, Christians, Buddhists, Wiccans, Druids, etc. running around blowing themselves up, killing people, burning flags, giving fully automatic weaponry and ammunition to little children to go shooting in the street, hijacking airplanes, gassing subways, etc. However, you see plenty of Muslims doing this, and according to them they're doing this because their religion is telling them to do so. Could you imagine a bald Asian man running around in an orange robe strapped with explosives? When was the last time you saw a hostage situation with a bunch of Jewish women with explosives strapped to them, ready to blow both themselves and the hostages up if their demands weren't met? So, I think you ask the question a bit incorrectly - should be why are Muslims so psychotically zealous?

It's because most terrorists are muslim, and do their acts in order to get publicity. The media publishes stories that get attention. I know enough about Islam to know that most are moderate or peaceful muslims and only want to live their lives like the rest of us.
Personally, I can't help but point out though, that with terrorsim being a perversion of the muslim faith, a strenuous and armed response by the rest of islam against the radicals would quickly end the world's condemnation of your religion. The intent behind Israel and U.S. Government's armed response is in question sure, but if the rest of the Islamic world took up arms and faught the terrrorists who pervert your religion.......... "Muslim" would no longer be "terrorist" in the minds of others.

MMMMMMM..... Lets see. Maybe because one of the longest conflicts on Earth is in the Middle East, Muslims are the majority there and the aggressors for the most part. The overwhelming majority of terrorists in the entire world are Muslim. The Muslim Koran says for all non-believers who will not turn to Islam to be wiped off the face of the Earth. (a fact no one will dispute, read for yourself it is there)

Christianity? The predominantly Christian West is currently the object of Osama's jihad.

Hinduism? Kashmir.
