Do not use Vicks Vapor Rub!!Go to the emergency room right away if she is having a hard time breathing and also ruining a fever. A 4 week old baby doesn't have the strength to handle congestion in her lungs.

I wouldn't because of the strong smell. Sudafed puts out a children's sudacare vapor-plug in that you can use for up to 16 hours. Vick's also make a vapor rub just for babies which works wonders, you just put a little on their chest or back it still has the smell but its not as strong they can both be purchased at Walmart or Walgreens. Hope this helps and shes feeling better.

I would be more inclined to use camphor make a camphor bag buy using something like a piece of cloth clean rag and make little bag sew it up really well. and then just carefully pin it to the baby's singlet using a safety pin. I did this with all of my kids and it works well. Vicks may have a burning feeling to it if you use to much. Camphor is an old fashion thing but it works well in baby's and young children. Good luck hope baby is feeling better soon.

it is much better to consult a pedia first. because for such a young infant it is very dangerous to try things you are not sure of, especially your baby has not adapted the environment that well yet and her organs are not that well developed yet.
