I hope so!

I am Lebanese & I want the disarmament of Hizbollah as much as anyone does. But I believe that killing innocent people (on either side) and distroying a whole country is not the answer. It can be done thru the joint efforts of the Lebanese Government & the International Community.

This war has killed more people who have nothing to do with Hizbollah, and so many who are against them than it has actual Hizbollah members. It has thrown a country who had been struggling to rise from the ashes of a 15 year old war (and had actually crossed more than half the road), back to the stone age.

Lebanon is so much more than people are led to believe by the monopolizing media. Ask anyone who has been there. It is a beautiful, tolerant, democratic country that is paying the price for one party from just one of 18 sects within it, that has become stronger than the army through foreign decisions.

All we want is to live in peace and prosperity, to have the right to dream, just like the next person, and the right to believe we can achieve that dream. We do not want Hizbollah or Israel in control of any part of the country.

About as long as it takes for some nutjob to lob another rocket into Israel, then it will be back on. I have no confidence in the UN's ability to maintain the peace or keep the jackals in Hizbollah under control. They've had a presence there for nearly 2 decades and look what a fine job they've done to date. A UN resolution is a waste of paper, and all the hot air and bluster that goes into one would be better used generating electricity or something. I have no illusions about there being any lasting peace. I'd love to be wrong, but don't think I am. Zeina has submitted one of the most lucid and well spoken answers from that region I have ever read.
Majdi asha proved with his post that some people will believe what they want no matter how far from the truth it is. Ignore him, he's a fool.

Probably not. Since Hezbollah is a jihadist movement, with an ideology that actively looks for the destruction of Israel, they will not lay down their arms and look for any option to attack Israelis.
moreover, since they are under the direct command of the Iranians who have a command post in the Iranian embassy in Beirut, they will be ordered by Tehran to continue the war

nope.
As I've said it before... Hitzb'Allah has a kind of itch that doesn't let them sit still for more than 24 hrs without either lobing rockets into Israel or sending suicide bombers or kidnapping innocent people.
The Israelis have the cure for that itch... it's in the form of guided missiles and Israeli sniper bullets... that stops the itch... Unfortunatelly, Iran and Syria just sends them more of the stuff that makes them itch anytime they slow down.

Batteredwhiteknight has it right. I'd love to see that cartoon.

The best summation of the Arab-Israeli situation I've seen is a cartoon; on one side of the panel, an Israeli soldier is standing in front of a crib, shielding it, while on the other side is an Arab hiding behind a crib, setting up a katyusha rocket. Until the Arabs love their children more than killing Jewish children, this conflict will never end.

No way. they've been butchering each other for thousands of years. It may amount to a pause in the violence, but sooner or later they'll be back at it.
