It's a hidden file that generate by microsoft word

If you want to get rid of it, go to

under "Tools" select "Folder option"
select "View"
under "Hidden files and folder"
select "Do not show Hidden files and folder"

.doc files that have the $ sign and that are grayed out are temporary files. These are used as ways to recover lost files;
If you were typing a document, and the power went out, MSWORD may have made a backup like this file that you can use to recover the document.

Most of these can be deleted, just open them first and make sure they are not system files, and that they are not of any importance to you.
