It's easy to just sit back and let the world go by BUT actually getting out there and having a life requires you to do something. Sure join a club - go to evening classes - make friends. It all sounds very easy to achieve, but my guess is that you are not just lazy but you lack confidence in yourself. That's the hard bit to overcome but if you really want to get past being satsified with second best you will need to set yourself achievable goals.
On my birthday this year I made a list of things I wanted to achieve e.g. lose weight - so I went off and joined a slimming club and not only did I lose two stone but felt better about myself - so my advice to you is just try to change little things and before you know it some of the bigger things change as well. Good luck and remember life is for living.

Ok start by waking early morning and going for a run then get back and shower, have breakfast, get a newspaper and look for a job. Do this every morning till you find a job. Even if you don't get a job at least you will feel healthy. Clean up your place instead of sitting doing nothing - make it fun, listen to music and sing-a-long if you want. When and if you get an interview make sure you are clean, smell nice and looking good. Just don't let yourself loll around all day doing nothing. Ok - now start cleaning up instead of playing around on the computer!

Look take 5 minutes to chil out and assess the situation, right there are a number of options open to you. What qualifications have you got? If you have none or there not too good dont worry, go to college and get re-educated. Do you know you could become a fully qualified plasterer in less time than it takes to sign on at the dole. You can be anything you want to be its never too late, start today and follow your dream you could have your own company this time next year. Good luck sweetie x

It's great that you know yourself so well - some people reach 70 and don't even know themselves that well!
I think someone else suggested an evening class - what a great way to get out of the house and meet new people. I went to a 'Confidence and Assertiveness' course on a Saturday morning. (I'm based in the UK). It was a great way of meeting new people who all want the same thing.
We did basic things such as - goal setting, planning, time/stress management.
I'm guessing your a libra like me? If you are accept it!

Motivation, get to the library and find books on the subject, as many as you can carry, take them home, read them and do something positive every day to build you motivation up, try your local college to see if they do a Personal Effectiveness course, brilliant for giving you motivation and turning your life around, good luck hope your off that sofa of yours doing something soon.

Drink red bull - "red bull gives you wiiiiiiiiiings"!
No seriously, if you start off your day with a caffeine based drink then you should find some motivation.
Go to a job centre, make a C.V. and put it on the web, look in your local paper at the job advertisements page.

The easiest way to combat laziness is to get a job, because when you have a job you have to be somewhere at a certain time almost everyday and have a set of responsibilities to carry out.

This might sound harsh but you just need to get out there and get on with it! The world will not wait around for you. Work out what you want and a plan for how you are going to achieve it, then do it. Good luck

Enrol in some classes that really interest you. You meet people who are usually friendly, can swop info and make friends to socialise outside class, also learn for job you really want. I did this and I'm a widowed 63 yr old. I made some very good friends and it widened my social life and got me part time job

Follow your passions. The only things your ever going to be good at are things that you feel passionate about. No one else would bother! So do you like helping people? Hiking in the woods? Bowling? Whatever it is, become the best at it. Aim high!
