They story about how Britain stopped 24 terrorists from blowing up 10 planes has been all over the news. It appears that it was as big as a 9/11 attack. But what I haven't read is how they caught them. They planned to detonate the bombs using liquid explosions that weren't detectable by the xray machines. Well if that's the case then how the hell did they catch them!

Legal wiretaps. The authorities heard them receive a message that said something like "do the attack now", so they arrested the bunch. Apparently, they'd been watching them beforehand; it was a large enough operation that the authorities were able to pick up on it.
