It is not the question of weather or not god exists. What it comes down to is weather a religion is forcing its views on secular people. That is where the problem is.

How can you say it is his fault, how do you pride yourself in being a rightful Judge of God and that he didn't provide more evidence,oh but he did provide the evedence but did you actually look at it or reason it away? The thing is all the evidence you could possibly want would never be enough if you turn your head and heart away from it. I know the Bible is not blind faith. Non-belief of the Bible is blind faith. There would be errors in the Bible and big errors if it were left upt o mankind to take care of it like you say, but do you really think that an all powerful God cannot get his message accross the way he wants it to be read, that I guess would be true to the point of the people who do not turn to his word. But it is up to us all individually to find God he has actually left an abundance of evidence it is just that most people choose to ignore it, therefore your rationlazation is not valid if God exists which he does, and you don't believe you do not have automatic forgiveness, and no flaws are in God's creations it is creation that has made itself flawed and is destroying things including itself. It is because Mankind refuses to see the evidence of God's existance that God's word says thatwith a flaming fire he will bring vengence upon those who do not know God 2Thessalonians 1:8and those who do not obeythe good news about our Lord Jesus Christ. That is because the evidence is there but people chose not to believe it or listen to God's word. Just think , How would you feel if you were the creator and your creation tried to discount you and try to blame you for what they caused? So in answer to another part of your question it is not true that noone knows the truth, many don't want to know it maybe because they might feel that not knowing it may relieve them of responsibility to our creator but obviously according to the Bible which you discount in 2 Thessalonians 1:8 it shows that not knowing God is not going to relieve anyone from accountability from God nor is he going to forgive that. I do care because God does exist and I feel how hurt he must be that so many are siding with Satan against God even going as far as discounting his existance and his word as being wrong Thhere No wonder then that God is filling the need to have people know who he is as Psalm83:18 says:"That People may know that you whose name is JEHOVAH,YOU ALONE are the MOST HIGH over all the earth." Just some food for thought!

We'd all like to believe that a powerful father figure is watching over us and protecting us and approving of us. We'd all like to think we are so cosmically significant that we have an eternal destiny selected for us personally by an all-knowing and all-powerful deity.
It's primarily insecurity. Preachers know this of course. How often do you hear an evangelical preacher talk about "eternal security." Well, they really have to talk about security in the afterlife because they have to admit you could be eaten by lions in this life. Of course if you die and stay dead, you won't come back to complain and get your tithes back because you didn't get any "eternal security."
But it's fear of death, fear of the unknown, at one time it was coming up with explanations for nature and trying to predict it. It's why so many people insist every word of the Bible is true even though they haven't read every word. They don't really want to read it, they just want to know there is something there that is absolutely trustworthy and reliable. When they do study it they find out it's a swiss cheese where God gets all the credit, none of the blame, and every promise has exception clauses to the point where they are as sure as coincidence and no more, but few bother.
A good psychological discsussion of our emotional need for a divine parent can be read in the very short and pithy "Moses and Monotheism" by Sigmund Freud. You can read the text and study materials at the Bibliomania site below. Registration is free.

Because if God exists and if he made us then he did it for a reason. If their is a purpose to life then it is only reasonable that people would want to know what that purpose is. Even if you are a sceptic then there would certainly be no harm in trying to find out if God exists and if he has a pupose for us. It won't do you any harm and for all you know it could make your life a lot happier.
As far as the bible is concerned, it would be terribly naive for anyone to think that it doesn't contain some errors. Why do you think there is so much confusion about what it teaches? However, overall it contains many valuable truths that can lead you to a greater understanding of the purpose of life. Once you understand the purpose of life you will realise than we can't be spoon fed everything. We have to work some things out for ourselves and some things we have to accept on Faith.

For those of us with genetically-inspired skepticism, life will always be an argument. Why not keep it going into the afterlife if need be.
Logically, you have to look at it from the opposite side. If you choose not to believe, and God does exist, you've got everlasting problems. If you choose to believe, and he does exist, BINGO. If he doesn't exist, you've lost nothing (assuming your religion doesn't get you killed in its name). Statistically, all things being equal, you're better off picking a religion and going with it.
For the moral viewpoint, some people do not have the imagination or desire to determine for themselves what constitutes a moral life. They need a guide. Many pick the bible, and place faith that it's divinely inspired, so they can allow themselves to believe they are following the correct moral path.

I am not certain why people need to believe, or not to believe, it appears that throughout history mankind has sought out answers to the whys? and hows? of our existence, doesn't it? I once took a class, it was some type of humanities course, and it was about how all cultures have a creation epic of some sort, and they all seem to center around some type of supreme being / ruler .......which is not only interesting, but again returns to the subject of humankind looking for answers and reasons. Not much of an answer I know, sorry, just my thoughts, all I could really offer you on this topic.
Great, well thought out, and presented question though!

If you believe or have a faith then you are bound by those...
Once you bcome a perfect being you transcend this existance.
Hence the desire/urgency to achieve that goal while the store is still open for business.
If there is no God you will be forgiven IT'S if there is One then you may have a problem
And divinely inspired works are said to be self correcting.
personally I believe in the maker/destroyer and she's gearing up to start over again(I mean have you been paying attention).
welcome to Walmart- happy shopping shoppers. See you at the check out counter?

Think living a great moral life will get you anywhere with God? No one has the "great morals" it takes to lead a "great moral" life that God looks for. God's perfect. In thought. Word. And Deed. No one on earth is. We can't stop lying throughout the course of the day, let alone live a "great moral life."
That's why (both biblically proven and historically proven) Christ went to the cross to pay for our sins. His sacrifice on the cross paid for the debt that you and I couldn't pay through religion, or living life a certain way, or being nice, or joining a church, or praying hard, or anything religious, traditional, etc. like that.
Only by believing in Christ, that he's removed your sin debt completely through faith in his blood on that cross will you ever have peace with God. Until then, all you'll have are questions, wondering if God exists, if he cares, did he do this, or that, and why, and this is how I think I can please God....
God does not forgive, if you're not trusting in Christ. He made a way FOR you to be completely forgiven, and that's the Son of God. If you think ANY other way, religion, shape, form, movement, hope, thing, method, can get you closer to God, if YOU think you can get yourself closer to God, you're not trusting in the avenue he laid out for you, and he won't be forgiving you, if you're not trusting in him.
We got free will alright. Free will to trust him, or free will to keep on mocking him for one more day, denying he even exists.
And the only way I know all of this truth is for sure, is NOT because of faith in my intellect, faith in how I believe, faith in what I'm capable of believing, or in my abilities. It's by testing, examing, inspecting, digging in to the bible, God's true word, and finding over and over again, without a doubt, it's 100% true.
Not taking the word of a pastor, an organization, a group, a place, a gang, but in the actual authority of the word of God itself, the Holy Bible. the only "note" written from God, to man.

I believe it has to do with either being tormented for the rest of eternity or being in paradise,me myself would choose the latter.I mean come on wha wouls want to suffer forever, from the look of this yahoo's answers quite of a few people are willing to takw that chance and I find unreal. It's amazing what these people say about God.I can't believe my eyes, their playin with their souls although some does not believe they have one,no matter if some science has proven somewhat that even the body looses weight as soon as death occurs and not of bodily fluids. They have found evidence of chariotte wheels in the bottom of the red sea and even more evidence than that.Me myself I do everything I can to live a life that In all my power will try to keep Jesus first.

surfer2966,
You may be pondering these thoughts until the day you die. But you really won't have the experience necessary to come to the truth until you leap in faith off the fence you are walking on to one side or the other.
I think that you are asking yourself, " What for?"
Because if it's true, it will either teach you that it's not worth worrying about, or it will teach you that it is the most important thing you could ever do.
Walking on the fence is easy. Putting your trust in one side or the other more difficult. You are taking a risk that you might be wrong after all!
