The military clock starts at 0000 (midnight) to 1200 (noon) to 2400 (midnight). As opposed to the civilian clock which runs from 12:00am to 12:00 (noon), and starts over again.
The military uses this system to guard against any possible confusion as to what time is meant. When you speak in military time, you say each number (i.e., zero-eight hundred for 8:00am). Using the word "hours" is usually optional.
The military does not insert colons into their times, that is done in the science realm. Scientists also use a 24-hour clock, but insert the colons. This is because they will often write the time down with seconds (i.e. - 08:00.50). It's just another way it's used to keep any confusion from happening.
Hope that helps.

it's simple 0800 = 8:00 A.M. and 0500 = 5:00 A.M.
Basically it works w/ 24 hours where anytime after 1259 goes to 1300 which is 1:00 P.M. To put it simpler for any time after 12:59 just subtract 12 from the number and you get the hour.

Midnight is 00:00 hours, that's the start of the 24 hour day.
1 am would then be 0100 hours or 01:00 or so on until 12 noon which is 1200 hours or 12:00, and then 1pm is 1300 hours or 13:00
The whole "hours" bit is just a fancy way of saying it. "I'll meet you at zero-eight-hundred hours" is just 0800 or 8am.
Hope this helps!

Anything above 12 is P.M. ;-)
The way that worked for me: 00:00's midnight. and 12:00's noon
13:00-23:00 just subtract 12. Ie: 13 minus 12 is 1 so it's 1pm. 19 minus 12 is 7, so it's 7pm, etc After awhile, it becomes second nature, and you'll find it's actually simpler than a 12hr clock. Ya don't have to dink around with "do you mean am or pm?" stuff.

Uh, it's the same thing... 16:22 is 1622 hours. 0800 hours is 8 in the morning. 1300 hours is 1 in the afternoon.

Military time is based on a 24 hour clock there is no need to add the : when you write your time it goes from 0100-2400 or some say 0000 hrs 2400 & 0000 both mean 12:00 pm When you say the time its proper to say 1300 hours but if you don't most people understand what you are saying anyhow. I hope that answers your question

Military time is based on a 24 hour clock - instead of the traditional 12 hour clock (which must travel full circle twice for one full day). The military clock starts at 0000 hours, and ends at 2400 hours. There is no colon between its numbers, because there is no need to denominate between minutes and hours. There is always four digits in military time. 8:22am is the same as 0822 military time.

Military time is based on 24 hours in a day. Instead of noon being 12 o'clock and then starting over at 1 o'clock, it continues by being 1300 o'clock. So there is no 1 o'clock in the morning and 1 o'clock in the afternoon.

same difference
midnight is 00:00
0800 is 8 am
0500 is 5 am
0530 would be 5.30 am
hours that are 1-12 are the logical am to noon sort. after noon, subtract 12 to get the pm.
