After having read LIFE ON THE OTHER SIDE: A PSYCHIC'S TOUR OF THE AFTERLIFE by Sylvia Browne, I found her beliefs comforting and plausible.

If you are not familiar with her work, she says that when we "die", we go Home to the Other Side. She says that every once in a while, we decide to face the world of negativity to work on our spirituality so we are reincarnated into this world where racism, bigotry, egoism and many other negative factors thrive. At Home, on the Other Side, we live in love and complete tolerance. We are busy studying, socializing and Worshipping God. We are always in a state of spiritual growth as we alternate between Boot Camp Earth and Home.

There are several factors which makes this easier for me to accept.
1) Past-life Regressions. There are several documented cases where hypnotists have taken a clients through one or more Past-Life Regressions. This is when the client is hypnotized and led to events from one or more past lives. Many clients (from a large variety of hypnotists worldwide) have documented very similar descriptions of a place that is described a being “home” but the client could not name it as they could if it were England, Africa or Persia. There are also documented cases of Cell Memory healings where a client went to a hypnotist to get rid of back pain (or a large variety of other health issues which could not be corrected by licensed doctors) and the hypnotist led them to a past-life regression where, perhaps, they found out that they fell off of a horse and broke their back when they were 20 years old - the same age the where when the back pains developed in their current life. After the past life regression, the healing began because the negative cell memories were released.

2) Psychics. There are more than a couple of psychics who, like John Edward and Sylvia Browne, can communicate with spirits from the Other Side. How many times have you heard about a person who went to a psychic to see if their friend or loved one was okay after passing over. How often do you hear that they answer they received directly from their loved one was that they are doing very well and they are very happy. If this was all that was said I might still be skeptical but there are too many documented cases where the deceased passed a message through the psychic to their survivors giving them information that the psychic had no way of knowing about.

There are also numerous cases where psychics have assisted various law enforcement agencies world wide in attempts to locate a kidnapping victim or a murder victim. There are several cases where the psychic gave the police the clues they needed to find the victim and/or solve the crime. Where did the psychics get their information? They will tell you they connected to the victim and I have no reason to doubt the truly gifted psychics - not those who play games by guessing based on generalities.

3) Near-death experiences. Whenever a person is gravely ill or seriously injured and they are declared “clinically dead” for a few minutes before being revived, they can claim to have had a near-death experience. For many of these people, they tell about:
* Seeing a bright, warm white light.
*Seeing friends and relatives at the end of the light.
* Hearing the most beautiful music they ever heard.
* Experiencing a feeling of total love and acceptance.
* A feeling of release and weightlessness as if to be released from the negativity of this life.

These experiences have been, and are being, recorded all over the world. Frequently, it crosses religious and cultural barriers.

One other interesting thing about those who have near-death experiences… many of them go through days, weeks or months of post depression because they believe that they had a taste of what they get to look forward to when they die and go home.

I am sorry this was so long but this was the “proof” I had to offer.

All the best to you!

I'm around death almost everyday. I'd like to believe in something afterwards but sometimes I question that thought. Most of the dead I have seen just look dead...though I do get a feeling about some people that they actually are in a better place. Possibly, only the people who actually LIVE go on, everyone else is wasted or recycled or something like that. We are put on this earth to live right? For a short time and I think the goal is to make the most of it. I have no evidence of my beliefs, if anybody did wouldn't that be the biggest most important discovery of mankind?

Read the book "90 minutes in heaven" by Piper. He was in heaven and is here to tell his story.

I am going to be with God forever, I just love that. I have accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior. It will be so great. Imagine, the seed goes to the ground, dies and grows a three. The tree nor an apple does not look anything like a seed...THAT IS THE DIFFERENCE! Everything is going to be so much better...just great..no pain and suffering...just happiness...we are not limited by time and by the laws of physics...( the white guy can jump really high...lol..but true..)

Absolutely. Matter can neither be destroyed nor created. When your body decomposes it gives of gases in the air and nutrients in the soil. People breath the air and get nurishment from things they eat which was produced by the aid of decomposition. As far as a spirit world? Not real sure, but I like to believe in one. I think you somewhat live on in the memories of those left behind.

I'm not a believer, and I don't exactly "believe" in it, but I still think maybe...or at least it would be nice... After our whole family individually heard our cat that we lost, individually then later found we each heard it and all at the food cupboard where the cat food was kept (just one 'meow')...maybe there is something, even if it's just because we want it enough. I don't necessarily think it's anything magical, and more likely very tied with our own world still... No 'heaven' or hell...just here...with those that miss you.

Jesus promised life after death." "He just promised us eternal life after death." So you see, after all, it is the experience of passing from death to Life; when all the old things die, and all things become new; Christ becomes real, the old things drop away. We have seen Him heal the very shadows of death, seen Him bring people to life after they had been pronounced dead by the doctor. And Job was giving vent to his impulse of God, expressing that He was a life after death. He saw that after death there was life again. Upon the basis of the shed Blood, upon the basis of knowing that you're a Christian, and the promise is true, if Jesus promised life after death, went forward into death and come back with life to prove it, and give you life of the Spirit in you, and His Presence here now, how can it fail? But there is life after death: life after death. And Jesus taught it for three and a half years. What a promise to the people. He returned back from that land. He told them that there's a land where a man don't die, that there's Life after death. And today, after two thousand years we still have that evidence that we have passed from death unto Life. Death is going on around the altar, and new Life will come after death. And He said that there is Life after death, where there is no tombstones and graveyards. And now, the true Easter Seal on this sunrise was broken, and the secret of Life after death was revealed. Now, but Jesus was telling them that after death there is life.

I don't believe in life after death as the world sees it and as your question poses it. I beleive in life after death only after the second coming of Jesus, until then we will sleep.

I have found great comfort in knowing how the Bible describes our life after death.
It states clearly that we do not know anything. It is as if we are asleep. We do not "go" anywhere. Our Spirit (breathe see Genesis 2:7) returns to God. This is literally the air we breathe that sustains our life.
We do not get our "just reward" at the time of death - see Eccl. below.

I also want you to know that when Jesus comes we will all be raised up to see Him. - 1Cor & 1 Thes. below

Hope this helps. I no longer worry about someone being in hell and suffering or being in heaven suffering because they are watching their loved ones going through rough times.

John 11:11. These things said he: and after that he saith unto them, Our friend Lazarus sleepeth; but I go, that I may awake him out of sleep. 12. Then said his disciples, Lord, if he sleep, he shall do well. 13. Howbeit Jesus spake of his death: but they thought that he had spoken of taking of rest in sleep. 14. Then said Jesus unto them plainly, Lazarus is dead.

Ecclesiastes 9: 5. For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward;

Luke 8: 52. And all wept, and bewailed her: but he said, Weep not; she is not dead, but sleepeth. 53. And they laughed him to scorn, knowing that she was dead.

1 Cor. 15:51. Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, 52. In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

MY FAVORITE
1 Thes. 4:13. But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. 14. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. 15. For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent (go before) them which are asleep. 16. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17. Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. 18. Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

I do not believe this is the only existence for us. I have always deeply thought there is another plane, another existence, another dimension, another life for us after this one. Just something I feel in my soul to be true. I do not have evidence, sorry, other than seeing my grandmother in my dreams and believing she is visiting me from the other side.
There is no heaven or hell, there is no sin. No one punishes us but us. God is love, not to be feared.

If there was no life before bearth that I know of I see no reason to think there would be a life after death.

(Psalm 37:10-12) 10 And just a little while longer, and the wicked one will be no more; And you will certainly give attention to his place, and he will not be. 11 But the meek ones themselves will possess the earth, And they will indeed find their exquisite delight in the abundance of peace. ?
