This is more of a political question, it goes way back to 5/16/1916 when a nice little paper called the Sykes-Picot agreement was signed. It contained little tidbits about how the Arabs were not fit to self rule and how they then should be divided and supervised by the west. In it, the now known borders were put into place between place that just used to be called Arabia.

This would have to be the smartest thing the west did to conquer the Muslims in my opinion, because I believe divide and conquer to be the best strategy to win any conflict. The agreement stated that England would recieve under its jurisdiction Egypt, Jordan, Palestin, Iraq, Saudi Arabia and the other gulf countries. France would be granted Syria, Lebanon, Morocco, Tunisia, and Algeria. Italy would get Libya while the Soviets kind of just decided to take the non-Arab Muslims outside of the agreement.

The agreement was leaked by Lenin of Russia and this pissed off the Arabs when they found out about it. Later on the countries were then allowed to gain their independence but not before the western countries made sure that the new regimes were prowestern regimes and definitely able to control their populations through fear and terror. They also made sure that these new rulers loved power and were not willing to unite so to keep their thrones.

The current middle east still operates the same way based on my observations. I went down their to study Islam because I am still debating between Islam and Christianity as a religion and wanted to learn as much as possible about both. I stayed their for five years in different Arab countries and found that the people all wished to be united but the governments do not. I hope that helps and maybe someone else will post other information on the subject matter.

Take care and have a great night.
