How can there be a heaven when there's a hell? How can anybody have any sort of paradise while their fellow humans suffer eternally? I sometimes have trouble sleeping at night when I think about one of those soldiers in Iraq having his head sawed off. It keeps me up at night, the ugly thought of someone else suffering to that extent. How could anybody be so heartless as to sit atop a throne in paradise and not dwell on those who are tortured for not believing the bible? It's horrible to think any Christian could imagine forgetting their loved ones here on earth so that they can enjoy their eternal paradise in peace.

How horrible heaven must be, huh?

Despite the fact that I agree, the idea that a loving God wouldn't punish his creations doesn't mean there isn't a God. We have science to prove that there isn't.

To be perfectly honest, if there is a God, he can do whatever he wants and call it whatever he wants. In the end, it's down to him. For instance, if God had said homosexuality were not only condoned, but considered a more holy bond than heterosexuality, we would all be thinking quite differently about the subject. We'd never know any other way of thinking. At least, if you're a Christian, Jew or Muslim at any rate. Since God is supposedly all-deciding and all-knowing, it's his say what is right and wrong, and therefore he can commit all kinds of attrocities and call it good. Look at the Old Testiment, for goodness sakes. Thing is, God sins too. It says right in the bible he's a jealous and wrathful God. Those are two sins right there! Does no one notice this? Jeebus.

Nonetheless, I agree that it's ridiculous that anyone can believe Heaven is a great place when people are being punished eternally in Hell. No one deserves to be punished forever. That's like killing your child when you find out he/she had a party while you weren't home, instead of grounding them for a little while. And you would think that since that's the opinion of the majority of people on earth, it would be the opinion of whatever God we're ruled over by as well. If we feel that moral compass internally, surely we got it from him if he's actually there.

There is a heaven and hell to seperate the ppl. I kno i wouldnt want to spend eternity with murderers and rapists. God sent the only son he had, Jesus, down to earth to save us and in the end he died a brutal death of where someone nailed Him to a cross. God is not cold hearted, He watched His own son suffer and die...He knew that Jesus would soon join Him back in heaven after helping save a world that had forgotten Him. Did u ever think of how we hurt God by sinning??? Thats the world, there is gonna be pain but in the end all the believers will be in heaven and those who chose a life without God will suffer more than they can imagine. Heaven will be the best place ever which is promised to us. It will have no pain or killing or heads "sawed" off. I hope u can find God one day and see how many glorious things He can do for u!!!

I am a believer in my Higher Power and I do consider my path to be a spiritual one. However, I wholeheartedly agree with your thoughts on this subject matter. My guiding light in my personal belief system is that any organized religion which teaches that a "certain truth" is the "only truth", is way off base and I don't buy it. Love and peace are about acceptance, not manipulation and controlling others. Oh, and the heaven and hell stuff is pure fantasy from what I understand. I don't know where such a need came from, except as mentioned, to use it for controlling the masses.

This question lays bare the fallacy in the popular "Christian" concept of Heaven and Hell. Jesus said that the Kingdom of Heaven was "at hand". I think he meant that it was easily within reach, but the doomsayers and priests took it to mean that the end times were upon us so as to instill fear in us to keep us in line. I believe that Heaven and Hell are not places. I believe that they are states of mind. I know this does not square with the conventional wisdom, but, like you, I've never believed in the "Christian" concept. After death all that's left of us is mind and spirit, anyway. How do you burn that?

I think is a disgusting notion of theological beliefs. How could you ever be at perfect peace with a loved one burning in a hell-fire? I personally don't believe in heaven or hell. I like the way God is portrayed in Vedic literature, where all life radiants from God. Nothing in this world scars the Atman, or soul. Our heavens and our hells come from the decisions we make and the consequences we suffer, Karma. The object is to understand yourself and this world, to stop all attachments so as to never be affected by Karma. Hence, we break out of the circle of Samsara, where heaven and hell exist. We break past all duality and absorb into Gods bliss.

Be good.

You just have to remember one thing. You talked about sitting on a thrown in heaven. It matters not were you sit on a thrown up in heaven or on the ground outside, your still just sitting on your a.s.s. I think that you would find that a lot of Christians would find pleasure in knowing that others are suffering in hell, this is called the see I told you so syndrome. If it all be true, I think the Christians that preach of non-believers going to hell would wake up to a really bad nightmare after they die. I think more Christians would find them selves in a placed called hell than any other.

Hell is outside the WALLS of heaven. No one see's them. When your in heaven there is so much to see and do you don't have time to think if anyone is in hell.

Also Hell is not Judgment, it is just a place where those who are not perfect (or made perfect) wait, for the second Resurrection.

it is because God gave us a free will, he will not force people to love him the choice is always between good and evil, i also feel sorry for people that will go to hell because they have rejected chirst, but they made their choice and after you die there is no second chance, heaven will be a place of beauty joy no more tears or sickness and we will have no need to remember what was on this earth. jesus paid the price for our sins on the cross so we can be heaven with him in eternity but is comes down to our choice jesus said he wishes that no man would perish, he came for everyone, its not about how good we are, there are a lot of good people that are not going to enter in, jesus said some will come and knock and he will tell them go i never knew you, its because they did not believe and accept him as the son of god

The same way there is a bar room and a church! You have to make the choice if you want to suffer the consequences or reap the benefits!
People make a choice to have a hangover, instead of a blessing. Therefore, people make a choice whether they want to go to eternal torment, or go to Heaven to be with the Lord.
We are responsible for our own actions, and choices!

On the one hand, there is a point here. The torture of the innocent is a terrible thing that no one, even God, wants to see.

But which would give you worse nightmares: knowing that a murderer was walking free, or that he was contained and being punished for his crimes? At judgement, all the reasons for a persons placement in Heaven or Hell will be put before us all to see. There will me doubt about where anyone belongs.
