That's an old offensive term from the 1960s. It is kinda funny now though. In those days, it would cause police to immediate search you. I remember a Cheech and Chong album where they were wer pushing a car full of pot that broke down, and the stoner yells to a passing cop:"Hey pig, how 'bout a push".

Yes, of course. When you spend your entire career devoted to catching criminals and protecting the population, only to be called a "pig", I'd bet it hurts.
Did you know that cops are called cops because of the copper badges that New York police officers used to wear? First it was "coppers", then shortened to "cops". I was watching way too much TV the other day.

One of the first things you learn when you become a cop is to develop thick skin. Everyone has bad days (Hell, I've had them, probably shows on some of the posts I've left here), but usually, you just ignore that kind of crap. It's just words strung together to provoke a response. You just can't take it personally, or you'll be pissed off all the time.

Why would we? We simply look at the source. If some moron comes up to you and calls you an idiot, does it bother you? If it does, you've got to get a thicker skin. Besides, name calling got real old after about grade 6.
Sticks and stones...
HEY SLICKTOP
Did we get rid of "theenlightened" or what?

Yes they do. If you call them names, they will most likely ignore it. But do not expect them to cut you any slack during your encounter. It could mean the difference between a warning and a ticket or a ticket and a set of handcuffs.
