There's cheap and there's frugal. Cheap means you are spending less based on the intrinsic value of something--you go for the cheapest, period.
Frugal means a lifestyle based on principle. This means that sometimes you shell out more for a highly valued thing because you know it's worth it. For example, a frugal man would look for an antique diamond ring as an engagement present because 1. it's reusing and 2. you know it will hold it's value 3. because you want to buy something phenomenal 4. you know it will hold it's value. Cheapskates will buy an inexpensive ring for the sake of it being on clearance.

Because women want to hold on too the way things where in the last generation, When the man of the house was payed plenty of money to take care of all of the family's financial needs.
In this generation a man needs to make well over 100,000$ a year to do that.

society wise that's how it goes. When you go on a date, espeically if you're old fashioned and romantic this is how it should be. In this male dominated society, there are some things you must do for your woman! Overall, no one appreciates a cheapskate no matter what. If you're on a date with "someone" then the right thing to do is to pay for it or maybe some of it at least. Or maybe who ever asked who out is the one who should? Either way, if you WANT a second date, or even get the girl to stay with you, this is what you should do. Amen.

There is a difference between cheap and thrifty. If you are cautious and wise about spending your money there is nothing wrong with that. But if you just keep trying to hold onto money, where is the living? I am thrifty, but I have (had) a BMW, own a 69 Corvette, own two houses and travel... Cheap people don't enjoy life, they worry... It's not about the money, it's about the living.

Whether or not it's true, if a man doesn't pay it leads me to believe he's going to be tight with his money all of the time. That means cheap, uneventful vacations...the lowest model of everything (car, washing machine, etc). I'm not like that and I don't want a guy like that.

I think that women like to feel that they are important enough to spend money on. If a guy is constantly concerned about how much money he is spending, then she feels like he won't be able to provide for her, or she will have to do all the providing. Personally, I don't like being with a guy that is concerned with money all the time, simply because it makes for boring conversation.

there's absolutely nothing wrong with being cheap. however, women do like to be romanticized & feel that our men are able to take care of us. down the road when things get serious, then you can be cheap....
