You don't need to give him advice about his ex. What you need to worry about is telling him the truth about what you feel about him. In most cases, confrontation can take away a lot of ackwardness and I bet you'll feel a lot better no matter the outcome. . .hopefully a good one for you :)

Don't tell him the woman he still loves is horrible but don't encourage him to persue her. He'd be better off with you and you both can be happy.
Be nicer than her. He'll notice. Offer to take him out to help him get over her.
Dress sexy. A little cleavage or a tight top and he'll start thinking of you as more than a friend by the end of the evening.
Best friends make the best lovers. They care about more than your body.
Don't wait around for someone else to be his rebound girl. They don't always break up. You might lose your only chance.

real life story. this happened to me.
I really liked one of my best friends. one day i called her to see if she wanted to go to a movie. we sat together in the back row. (hint the armrests go up) in the begining i made sure i had some body contact (legs touching or 2 arms on the armrest) about 1/3 into the movie i slowly put my hand on my leg but close to hers. hopefully they will do the same slowly move your hand closer until they are touching. lift you hand up above the other persons slowly and if they are interested then they will open there hand and you can slide your hand into theres and intertwine ur fingers.hold hands for the rest of the movie. remember to let the other person accept every movement you make and dont force anything. let it flow.
good luck
god bless +

I feel in love with my best friend so maybe you should tell your best friend because if you don't then you'll just be giving advice and hurt yourself
trust me

tell him to do what he both thinks and feels is right.. if that means to pursue her.. then know that he's happier doing so rather than moping around because they broke up .
