Have you ever picked up a history book? You might want to do that once in a while, cause if you did, you would find that life has always sucked and it always will. We are constantly on the brink of self destruction, this is what it means to be alive, this it what causes us to adapt and be better than we were. That is one of the basic laws of the universe, those that can not adapt become extinct. That's not really a hard concept to grasp, it happens all around us every day.

In Mark 13:32 the Bible states that "No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the son, but only the father."

Then, the Apostle Paul writes ' the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. While people are saying 'Peace and Safety' destruction will come on them suddenly..'

There could be two ways to interpret this; the first being the world has actually found a moment's peace (which would be led by the antichrist, and not true peace); the second would be times in which the world aches for peace but none can be found. That certainly sounds like today, does it not?

There are prophesies being fulfilled now, particularly in the Holy Land. For instance, there is a widespread movement to re-learn the old ways and the old techniques of doing things. This certainly applies to the restoration of the Temple.

For a fascinating study on ancient attempts to calculate the last of mankind's years, look up the Mayan and Aztec calendars. According to them (at least by one transcriber), the end date of this cycle is 2012. To them, it did not mean the end of life, necessarily, but the beginning of a new cycle of awareness.

Personally, I think this is a great test for Occam's Razor, as applied to Faith. If there is no God, and you do not believe, you have neither won or lost. If there is no God and you do believe, then you have lived a good life and still lost nothing. If there is a God and you do believe, then you have won it all. If, however, there is a God and you do not believe, then you have lost everything...for eternity.

Moral of the story: 'tis best to be prepared. We simply do not know when the end day will be; but it sure looks close.

rimrocka,
It depends on how you mean 'apocalypse.' If you mean that the world is going to end, no. But if you mean that things are about to change in the relationship between the earth and god, yup!

And check this out. There is a fault line coming from the northeastern part of Africa. It goes up the Red Sea and under the Dead Sea, the river Jordan and on past the Sea of Galilee. Up to when they started recording the plate, it would move apart at eh rate of about 3 centimeters a years. Last month it took three weeks to move 26 feet apart. That fault line goes past the Mount of Olives. And so we have Zechariah 14:
Zechariah 14:1 ¶Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, and thy spoil shall be divided in the midst of thee.
2 For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city.
3 Then shall the LORD go forth, and fight against those nations, as when he fought in the day of battle.
4 And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south.

Chilling!

Part of me does, and part of me has a different interpretation that might involve another millineum before it hits. But I have heard some very interesting historical data tracing through the establishment of the Dome of the Rock on the former temple site, and using the calculations, the first time I heard the year 2006 as the resulting year was in about 1999. Things look like it could be coming together...the attack from the north, etc. Of course, this could just be another false alarm. Depending on your interpretation of the generation of the fig tree...the generation that should not pass away, this could be it. We should be vigilant as ever spiritually, but live our lives, plan for the future, and protect our environment and interests as if it won't happen for another 7,000 years.

Only for some people. The world has always been a hard place to inhabit and it always will be, even with the technology we have. We may have helped Global Warming, but it was always going to be here. Right now, we are headed right back to "survival of the fittest". The poor and the weak will probably die in the next thousand years or so, and the wealthy and strong will survive much easier. It all really comes down to whether we can prevent killing eachother.

Of course I do, after all, every generation of mankind that has recorded an apocolyptic ending in there belief or religion has thought they were living in the "End Times". Fear sells and Christ did not push fear or selling. Keep on going and don't look back at your past or look too far forward into your future. Do good NOW. LOVE NOW. And most importantly...
Always DO GOOD AND LOVE NOW!!!
Hope this did not sound too corny LOL.

People have been saying that for 2000 years. Keep shouting it though, you will get more converts. Even when you are wrong the religion keeps going...
