I'm heterosexual, and I don't ever remember making the decision to be straight. I just was and am attracted to the opposite sex.

Speaking to gay friends, they have said that they feel the same way. They never decided to be gay. They just always felt attracted to the same sex.

I believe that people are born gay, just as I was born straight.

I think they're born gay cuz some gay men said they knew they were gay since they were very young, like preschool age.

Its likely a combination of genetics and environment. No one chooses to be gay, just like some people love sweets, esp chocolate, whereas I think they are just ok. But how did that person get that way? Well, if their parent had a sweet tooth they might be predisposed to have one also, but that doesnt mean there arent factors and experiences from the environment as we grow up that can't sway us one way or another. My parents like chocolate, so maybe I was predisposed to like it also, but perhaps the combination of all my experiences, perhaps my diet, etc. that wired my brain didnt incline me to have the same love of it. Maybe it would require a stronger force of experiences, whatever they may be, to sway me to my current tastes, than someone whos parents did not have a sweet tooth.

Theres no conscious choice in that sense. But it doesn't mean there arent some set of experiences a person can have that may lead him to partake of the love that dare not speak its name. But the gay movement certainly wouldn't want you to believe that, because that implies that people can be turned gay, and therefore, they become more of a threat, and may give mainstream society an excuse to discriminate and shut down whatever gay influences they think might "turn people gay".

To summarize, I am sure there are genetic factors but its very reasonable to think we are influenced by the experiences in the world as we grow up, as it is with any desire.

If you grow up listening to nothing but rap, you probably will be less inclined to have a liking for Beethoven, and vice versa. Get it?

why on earth would someon choose to be gay? don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with homosexuality.. but why, in a world as prejudice as ours, would someone choose to be gay when they would likely face a life of discrimination. it isn't logical. you are born gay.
