I dont drink hardly at all, maybe, 3 times a year, if any, but why do I feel uncomfortable going to drinking parties. Whenever I'm there I feel wierd, its kind of hard to describe. It seems like I have to impress, or do something to get attention, not that I'm starved for attention or anything like that, just that I feel like I gotta do something I dont think other people are looking down on me for not doing anything

Its not the pressure of drinking at all, its just I feel like I have to do other things, like funny things to keep their interest in me as a friend

Boy, do you have a problem. The best thing would be not to go if you feel like you have to impress people. That's not the reason for partying. I don't go to parties to impress people, I go there for the fun, and talk with a lot of different people, maybe play some cards or pool, not to argue with anyone though, although I haven't been to very many lately. This one guy was trying to impress me and somehow managed to catch himself on fire. They had to throw him in the lake. If this is how "you" try to be impressive, it's better that you don't drink. And usually people are having too much fun to look down on you.

I can relate to what your feeling....I don't drink either. You can try to avoid those parties entirely and try making friends that don't drink. If that isn't realistic try not thinking about it so much. If those people are your friends they are not going to care if you decide to drink coke instead of beer. They should respect how you feel and not EVER pressure you to do something you don't want to do. If your going to parties and they are giving you a hard time about not drinking they don't respect you in the first place. Who cares about what they think? So you don't drink...if people look down on you because of that they are complete and total losers. Be proud of yourself for taking a stand and not drinking. Peer pressure is total crap...don't let it get to you.

if you feel that uncomfortable then you can always bring your own drink to the party, it also does not have to be alcoholic. or you could also make something up like "I'm the designated driver tonight." I do this all the time and no one makes fun, it draws attention to me but in a positive way.

Don't let the people rule your life. You are who you are, and i'm sure you are a great and interesting person...with or without the drinking. Do what makes you feel the most comfortable, and have some fun.

Yeah.
Go to parties late, thats when people start to get less wild. It's no fun going to a party and people are all drunk and you aren't. Not sure what to tell you. I stopped drinking and I have the same problem.

Drinking (esp. in this contry) is a very common thing to do. So natually you want the approval of your peers, everybody does. Its not weird at all for you to feel like this...
