put in volvo cars made by VW because volvo didn;t make one but wanted to offer a diesel car, also im told the vw 6cyl was ment by vw really to be put in small delivery trucks, all of what i have heard is maybe not based on real facts from vw or volvo,so i guess im trying to find out more, to learn if these motors are what they say they are, and also could they be a quality built motor a dependable one as well, i have one found for $200 dollars said to run,if parts are easy to buy maybe rebuild it and install in a later model isuzu 2x rodeo there is just enough room, and i forgot to say never buy a isuzu rodeo buy something different with your money, they are all 100% trouble------- SO if anyone knows something about this volvo motor please let me know, and thank you so very much for your time.

first off the motor is probably what they said it was,,but the parts aren't that easy to come by for it,,and there expensive also,,most of them have done been retired to the auto salvage yards and probably crushed by now,,as for new parts they can be ordered for it,but they are really expensive,,and the cars aren't worth putting that kind of money in to,,you can find a lot better of a car to buy i hope this help,s some i am a certified mechanic ,,and own a repair shop in Tennessee,,and i don't recommend this car to buy,,good luck.

volvos have been ford since about 1996 just so you know. But they are still quite an independant conmpany.

I would go with a 1990 240, they last forever if you want an older car.

A vw engine is not a volvo, the engine is what makes a volvo, no volov engine, no volvo.

Having "Diesel" on the rear of a Volvo is as good as having "The Club" on your steering wheel. There are several independent Volvo mechanics who have made fortunes removing these engines and replacing them with gasoline burners. Also, the service network on these engines is limited at best and the parts are getting rare and expensive. There are better choices.

Buy it, it's a safe and reliable car and you get better mpg with a deisel. Don't put the Isuzu engine in it, get a Volvo gasoline engine if you want it to be a real volvo and to have volvo's legendary reliability.
