You make about as much sense as t*ts on a bull...
#1-Since when is surplus .223 ammo "very very expensive"
#2- Silencers are NFA, you need a Class III FFL
#3-"I want a .22 rifle similar to an assault rifle that I can add a sliencer to. this way the squirrel just hear whispers when they take a slug to the dome" - The speed of sound is "approximately" 340 meters per second, 1105FPS just in case you're too slow to figure that out..In other works the .22 LR will have struck BEFORE the sound gets there...Try some CCI Stingers 1640fps!!
#4-You're going to buy a 22 LR assault rifle but a .177 air rifle is not worth the extra cost...LOL
#5-"I prefer to hit my prey with cheap wal-mart 22 ammo" .177 pellets cost less than 22 LR!!

The ruger 10/22 can be modified with different kits to make them look like different military rifles. I have a Pup kit and a MG34 kit for mine.
Look at sportsmansguide.com and the like for kits. the 10/22 is probably one of the most versitile rifles on the market.
Walther makes some good ones too, but you will pay more for them.

Hey man. yeah a semi-auto .22? Ruger's 10-22 is pretty awesome as you can dramatically change the look of the gun. Mine personally has a nice barrel shroud, and the folding stock and hi-cap magazine, which are both legal now that the brady bill failed to be repassed. w00t! And definitely listen to James F, as the thing about the silencer is absolutely true. It is not only illegal to use one, but it is illegal to possess one. The ATF is pretty serious about that. If your going for a quieter shot go for a single shot .22 that you can load .22 shorts in. they make about half the noise but kill just the same, just make sure your shot counts.

There are lots of .22 cal conversion uppers for the Ar15 or Ciener makes a .22 conversion that uses your current upper. I have no idea how that would affect your use of a suppressor.

There is a .22 called an "AR-7"
It kinda looks like an AR15 but kinda skinnier.
By the way=--- Silencers are FEDERALLY illegal. Even to express an interest in one is good enough to get the feds interested in YOU.
