What do you all think....do Jewish people get more help from their families than other ethnic groups? Its seems to me that a lot of Jewish people get more help, finanically speaking, than other non Jews. I am talking about people in the age range of 18-30s, or even further. Or is this simply associated with a family's social status in society.

Jewish families regard the education and well-being of their children first and foremost. They don't believe in abandoning their children and hoping they'll find their way on their own... it's just not their way. Similar to the Jews in this regard are the Greeks, Italians, Asians, and that's all I can personally vouch for... but I'm sure there are plenty of others.

The family unit for these cultures is much stronger than I've experienced Anglo-American family ties to be... not that they love each other more or less, but just in terms of financial loyalty and helping your children through any struggle regardless of their age.

I come from this kind of background, and I've always been horrified at Irish, German, or other American families who send their kids off after high school, not concerned with whether their children will go to college... or how they'll pay for their college. I just am especially horrified when I see a well-to-do family making their child struggle with college loans and other financial problems when they have plenty of money with which they could help out their child... but the only reason they do not is because of principles... they believe that their child is grown now and needs to make their own way in the world. I just wasn't raised with this mentality and I cannot believe parents could be so cold. Similarly, I bet these families think that people from my kind of culture are coddled, but I'd like to say that the encouragement and support works, because these cultures tend to be very successful despite discrimination. It has worked for me and everyone I know who's parent's gave them support (though there are SOME losers, they are few and far between)... and those who's parent's just "abandoned" them after turning 18 are in debt, in crappy jobs, and some haven't even gone to college (while their parents have two or more homes and live nicely). A Jewish parent would sacrifice the clothes of their back to send their child to college, or mortgage their own home to help out their child with starting a family... the next generation is always the priority, because they are the future, and without their success, yours is useless.

It just seems that way.

That is just a stereo-type observation. Take a look at the political persona's like the Kennedy Family, the Bush Family...

Look also at the entertainment industry and make a judgment then.

Make Sense?

It is right.. because the Jewish traditions and history are built of unity of the family.. they even have some kind of homes that more than one family live together and help each other.. I can not remember the name of this kind of community.

maybe...

I think it would be fair though if you were to do a study on this to compare Jews and non Jews in the same economic bracket.

to compare a upper middle class Jewish family with the average American family would be unfair and would not give accurate results
