Rivers kept flowing into it; the rivers carried dissolved minerals. The water kept evaporating from the Dead Sea but leaving the minerals behind. The minerals included salt. With nowhere to go, the salt built up in the Dead Sea until nothing could live in it.

It's not true that nothing lives in the Dead Sea; there are various types of bacteria and single cell organisms living in it. Dunaliella parva, a single-celled green alga, and a group of halophilic (salt-loving) Archaea are found here, and in 1998, three species of fungi were recorded.

It's got too much salt to sustain life. The Dead Sea used to have life, but the water evaporates too fast, and there isn't enough new water coming in to replenish it, so it is very salt dense.

it has too much salinity or salt in the water. Due to this high salt content, no living thing can possibly survive in its waters - that is why it is called the Dead Sea

the dead sea got its name due to the fact the water had so much salt in it, that nothing could live in it.
